The Clevelander
10th and Ocean in SOBE will be rockin’ again! The Clevelander is opening this week and of course I got the FIRST TV tour!! They’ve added a bar on the ground floor by the pool, then a four-story entertainment complex with a 24-hours sports bar, indoor nightclub, and two levels of ocean front rooms and suites! Then there’s 2 rooftop decks and on C-Level there’s this waterfall thing you can sit under to cool off…love it!!
2009 Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders
I spent last Saturday at the Aventura Mall judging the final round of the 2009 Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders auditions. The day started early and there were some tough decision made, but at the end of the day, 42 women were selected to represent the team. The auditions consisted of a choreography performed in groups of 5, a one-minute solo routine, as well as kick line and interviews (private, earlier in the week). I have never had to dance in an “open” audition like this, so I can only imagine the added extra pressure with everyone’s friends and family’s watching, in addition to the other fans and mall shoppers!
I sat among a fun panel of judges who made the process enjoyable, but we did have a few arguments when it came down to the wire.
During the competition I sat between Lorenzo “Ice Tea” Thomas from 99 Jamz/WEDR, on my right and Dolphins Alumni Shawn Wooden, to my left. These guys impressed me with their dance knowledge and had credible feedback. In the end, went to bat for a few girls, who I truly felt deserved a shot…and I’m happy they’re getting a chance. Thanks to Emily and Dori for bringing me on for the event and congratulations to the 2009 Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders!

Everyone knows I’m a “jeans and a top” kind of gal… So when my good friend Mo told me about this custom fit online jean retailer that even allows you to pick and choose every detail of the pant, I had to check it out! It’s very cool and reasonably priced (comprable to what you’d pay in a major dept. store), it’s sort of fun to be able to put eveyrthing you like into the “perfect pair!” For example, I prefer dark denim with a low rise (I feel short-waisted) and bootcut, cuz my calves need the room! I’m sure it’s especially helpful for chicas with length issues or shapes that don’t fit the cookie cutter! All you have to do is enter your waist measurement (around the belly button) and they calculate the rest based on your height, weight, etc… AND – I found it amusing when I had to answer questions about how flat my stomach is or how much my booty sticks out! lol But, you gotta be honest so that they can make sure your jeans fit!! FIGHTING
I caught an early screening of FIGHTING today…and I was “fighting” to stay in the theater! The movie jumps right into the story and attempts to have a “deeper meaning,” but seriously it made no sense to me. The storyline seems choppy and you’ll be feeling like, “I don’t get it.” Channing Tatum is convincing as a loner street fighter, and they kept his dialogue very basic…while the way Terrence Howard’s character talks was driving me nuts! I did think the movie’s love interest was a pretty girl though… Anyway, fight-scene wise, they did throw a lot of punches, but I wasn’t particularly impressed with the way it was shot, but I did catch myself thinking “how the hell can you edit this stuff,” it felt like everything was moving around (the shot, the people), I think that editor must be cross-eyed now! lol Channing might want to stick to dancing, cuz this film didn’t “Step Up.” I’ve never been to an organized street fight, but to me it all seemed so random, like they’d be in a room and GO…start fighting, no matter if it was a nicely decorated living room, street or a fancy building! Cung Le (SJ represent) had the better fight sequence in my opinion, but why was everything about that scene so “Oriental”…ay yi yi. Honestly, the best part to me was when they took their shirts off to fight! ha So, if you take the time to go see this in the theater, just know the mind stimulation you’ll get is trying to figure out what is really going on.

State of Play
I watched an advance screening of State of Play last night…VERY GOOD movie..it opens this Friday the 17th! First, it’s an all-star cast with Russell Crowe (he’s sporting that scruffy “American Gangster” look), Ben Affleck (the clean cut politician that was cheating on his wife), Helen Mirren, Rachel McAdams (love her from the Notebook), etc… Second, it kept my interest the whole time and it’s one of those films that just when you think you know what’s going on, there’s another twist! And finally, there’s all kinds of elements going on, from drama, scandal, suspense thriller to action…I give it the “Aubrey Approval” and say it’s worth seeing in the theater!
What I’m Listening to Right Now…
I picked up Jadakiss – The Last Kiss last week and I LOVE IT! I highly recommend it, especially for hip hop fans…just listening to it really made me feel like he’s bringing East Coast Hip Hop back…not to mention I hear Cam’ron will be back very, VERY soon too, as he’s shooting a new music video this week! FYI… I don’t really purchase much music, and this was money well-spent! MUAH!!
