Panthers Ice Dancers

The Florida Panthers just finalized a new team of Bova Panthers Ice Dancers…and I was called to sit on the panel of judges for the auditions at Broward Mall this past weekend. NHL dancers are a relatively new phenomenon and not all NHL teams have these “promo” girls on board, but in Florida…they do! AND — since this is the first year the ladies will actually be dancing on the ice, I took a turn and tried it out as a prelude to the auditions! See…not only do I judge, but I also find out exactly what goes into it!! 🙂

Aruba

I was lucky enough to visit the island of Aruba this summer. The island is on the fringes of the hurricane belt and it’s definitely a trip to see desert (yes, it reminded me of my days in Phoenix, Arizona) with beautiful blue sea water surrounding it!! Super HOT, lots of wind…the food was YUMMY! The one thing that bagged me though…when I got off the plane…immigration took a good hour, lots of waiting and long lines…ugh!! Anyway, see some of my photos below!

Aquavana take me away!!

I got a taste of the Aquavana experience the other day. It’s a pretty cool series of showers and “cabins” located within the Canyon Ranch (Miami Beach) Spa. The ‘experience’ are free to any hotel guest and or with any treatment or visit to the spa. The ones that stood out to me were the Experiential Showers – the audio/shower noises crack me up, the Igloo – super cold, but the infused aromas give off a nice cool, refreshed feeling and the Herbal Laconium…I have fun just saying it! Toward the end of the video segment…what do those strobes and the shower scene remind you of??? PSYCHO, huh? All I needed was to add that sound effect and work on my acting skills….lol

Aquabilt Water Workout

I hear working out in the water can be very god for you, especially if you have joint issues, are trying to rehab or just need a good gimmick to exercise! Anyway, I heard about the Aquabilt…an underwater treadmill that you can just stick in your pool, so I tested it out and I actually liked it..it’s not hard at all and I love that you can go at your own pace. You see, my problem at the gym is that when I’m on the treadmill, I always feel like I have to “keep up” with whatever speed I put it at *AND* I’m constantly staring at the time and distance! At least with Aquabilt it’s refreshing to be in the pool and not feel the pressure to “keep up!”

Angel Hands for ALS

Last week was busy for me…hosting events! The second event I hosted was a launch party for Angels Hands for ALS in South Florida.

The cocktail social took place at the River Lounge inside the Epic Hotel in downtown Miami and also featured a fun fashion show by Ramsey and Jade.

And I was not solo for this event…I co-hosted with the Univision’s beautiful Karol Rosa (Sabado Gigante) -I was totally in love with her hair…so pretty!

Thanks to Liza and Gabriel of Creativas Group for putting together such an awesome event and asking me to be part of it!

Seminole Superstar

I had the honor and pleasure of hosting the 2009 Seminole Superstar Talent Show on the Hard Rock Live stage at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida this past week. The competition features the winner from each of the 6 regional casino properties, and they go head to head for cash prizes and bragging rights! It’s only open to Hard Rock employees and is a full-fledged production/show!

I must admit, it was very cool to be part of it! I had my own dressing room and was able to work with three of the best judges in the biz…Simon, Paula and Randy! *wink wink* I fit right in like “Kara”…right!?!?

All of the contestants did a fabulous job…this time around they were all singers with different styles, from Lady Gaga to Frank Sinatra, Alicia Keys, an original rap composition, some Black Velvet and the eventual 2009 Seminole Superstar winner from Tampa – Kelvin Williams, taking the crown with his rendition of “Me and Mrs. Jones.”

Good times…I even received a bouquet of flowers that were almost as tall as me! To see more photos from the event visit http://facebook.com/seminolehardrockhollywood

Let’s Talk About “Saxx”

Jazz and Music fans, check out this feature I did on Jon Saxx. You might catch him playing the national anthem at Miami HEAT games and he’s also toured with Anthony Hamilton and Montell Jordan too! I interviewed him at the cute Ginger Bay Cafe in Hollywood, Florida. You can visit his site at http://jonsaxx.com
