Iron Man 2

My bad ass friend Mike Relm was “commissioned” to create an uber awesome TV trailer for Iron Man 2!!! Mike and I have that Bay connection (so, I knew him when…lol) and I am always impressed by his work…to think it all started with 2 turntables, a mixer and some crates full of records – has evolved into so much more. Last night this OFFICIAL TV Spot for Iron Man 2 aired during Adult Swim.

According to Mike:

Jon Favreau spotted my Iron Man 2 trailer remix, he liked it enough to have me do this 45 second spot for television!

This is the original trailer he did…

I don’t even know if there is a genre, category or niche to put Mike in, but I think it’s most important to note his work all stems from Hip Hop and he is nothing less than amazing at what he does…he has mastered mixing, scratching & creating with music AND video!!

…so, a couple years ago when he passed through Miami on tour with the Blue Man Group, I featured him on Deco Drive.

A Nightmare on Elm Street

First of all, I don’t know what I was thinking catching an early screening of “A Nightmare on Elm Street.” Nevermind the fact that when I was younger the original flick freaked me out, or that I went to see this new version by myself…the problem is I happen to be a big SCAREDY CAT, even though I like watching these scary movies! I’ve always been exposed to horror films and scary movies, because growing up, my Mom loved to watch them…but that doesn’t make you immune. Anyway, if I was to rate this newer version, I’d say it sticks to the classic Freddy formula, nothing changed there, they do make use of some ok special effects and there is no shortage of suspense, startling or “make you jump” moments. Every time there was a pause or when you just know something is gonna pop up, I tried to remind myself it’s a movie and to expect it! So, if you want to see a gory, slasher type flick, I’d say go watch it, but not alone. Now, as far as the storyline and acting go…uh, kinda forced, kinda choppy and really dramatic and cheesy. It sort of would just go straight into things with no build up or natural explanation. And — as far as Freddy goes, I preferred the original version. This one is pretty much the same, but his burnt up face looks more alien to me than scary! Ha! BTW, I don’t know what it is about that glove with knives for fingers, but it still is one of the scariest things… *side note – my Dad always had his Freddy Krueger glove he’d use to pass out Halloween candy, he thought he was super scary! lol I guess all in all, the first version back in the day was “better,” and I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that I was younger and it (getting killed in your dreams) was a new concept!

Minority Report

This past February, I had the pleasure of meeting Deep Foundationhttp://www.deepfoundation.net, while attending the MAFA Conference in Indiana. These three emcees – MUG Shot, ILL Poetick and CJ (reppin Queens and Jersey), deliver intelligent insight and well-crafted lyrics, along with an admirable sense of social consciousness. And they are outspoken when it comes to paying respect to their Filipino roots through their music. Below check out a track and video they did in response to derogatory comments made publicly by Adam Carolla.

*The views depicted in this recording are solely those of the artists, and by no means do they encourage or condone violence against other people.

Earlier this month, Adam Carolla made disparaging comments about Manny Pacquiao, the Philippines, and its people in his popular “The Adam Carolla Podcast.” For those who insist that it was merely a joke and that Carolla’s comments should not be taken too seriously, we encourage you to listen carefully to a clip from the podcast. We do not feel that he was joking when he made rants such as, “All they have over there is Manny Pacquiao and sex tours,” and, “Here’s how you know when your country doesn’t have a lot going for it: When everything is about Manny Pacquiao.”

When your culture, your nation’s identity and the worth of your people are devalued, misrepresented and ignorantly disparaged by one possessing a historically oppressive skin tone, those who bear the brunt of the dishonorable insults will naturally be cajoled into action. Such was the case when Adam Carolla’s comments in regards to the Philippines, Manny Pacquiao and his Filipino supporters were aired on The Adam Carolla Podcast.

Carolla posted an “apology” on Twitter, but only after thousands of Filipinos signed a petition demanding an apology did he post one on his site. We felt the need to respond to his comments reducing our people to simply Manny Pacquiao worshipers and prostitutes. So we did.

Sunrise Shoot

I did an EARLY morning sunrise photo shoot this weekend on Miami Beach for no reason in particular. My friend and talented photographer Ivan of Bluprint I.D. was in town from NYC, so why not take advantage of his skills and the lovely landscape here that I don’t take enough advantage of! haha I mean, I need new profile pics! JUST KIDDING!

At any rate, it felt so good to be up and about at 6am…and IN nature. The beach is so peaceful and breathtaking at that time of day and it felt good to be all up in it and watch the sunrise!

I also spotted these blue oval ‘jellyfish’ – I’m assuming! I had stepped into the water and around the shoreline, minding my own business and I saw these and freaked out! You never seen me run so fast…haha Ivan tried to say aren’t they just some type of oyster shell?? Then he picked one up and felt the jelly-like texture and didn’t push me to be in the water anymore…lol

Anyway, Ivan says we took some amazing shots…and the lighting was too good to be true! Below are a couple UNEDITED shots that he sent over so I could get an idea of what they lookin’ like. I will share some of the edited joints when I get them…but so far, I think I’m lovin’ the scenery..it looks unreal! A lot of the pics I looked at on his cam..I said, “Is that me?” 😉

And this one, I don’t think it looks like me at all…what’s up with my puffy face!? As my girl Kimi said, “You look different…” However, baby sister Bologna commented, “…you look like Mom.” <<< The ultimate compliment!

At any rate, can you believe how vibrant the colors are and how the sky just pops in these UNEDITED pics!!? CRAZY…

Large On The Streets

Vado has been hard at work, in the studio, shooting videos and on his interview/media grind too. So, please do look out for that Boss of All Bosses 2.5 – should be out any day now… and SLime Flu will quickly follow!

Well, this past week Natty Photo reached out to us about shooting photos of Vado, and when I saw his work, I was very impressed, so we invited him along to Vado’s video shoot for “Large On The Streets” being directed and shot by Factory Media 15 Films. Here are a few behind the scenes still shots taken by Freddy (Natty Photo).

Swamp Men

“Swamp Men” of the Billie Swamp Safari, deep in the Florida Everglades is coming to a TV near you!! Nat Geo Wild has produced a docu-reality series that will premiere Monday May 3 at 10pm. So, I’m excited about this because I have visited the swamp on a couple occasions now and it is pretty cool!! The first time I went was to shoot a story about their VIP Buggy tour…that was interesting, I ate gator nuggets, couldn’t swallow the frog legs, but I loved the fry bread! I even sat on a REAL, LIVE alligator to do my “standup!” ha **note –  would never normally do that if I wasn’t “working!” Check the video…

I enjoyed my excursion so much that I went back with my baby sister Alison…

We rode the airboat too and got up close with the Gators!! yikes!!

So, somehow I got designated as the “cake cutter” …it proved to be a little complicated, and I felt more like a butcher! ha

They really needed to include some directions on how to go about attacking this… but all in all good times!! 🙂
