The Philippines welcomed a new President today with the inauguration of Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III at Malacañang Palace. Noynoy is my Uncle. His father Ninoy Aquino Jr. – who was assassinated in August 1983, is first cousins with my grandfather, Claudio Aquino. The Aquino’s are leading the country once again as Noynoy follows in his late mother Cory’s footsteps as President of the Philippines…and he carries on the dream of my Lolo Ninoy to serve his people because in Lolo Ninoy’s words, “The Filipino is worth dying for.”
All that being said, it was a big, exciting day for my relatives in Manila to watch history in the making and attend today’s event …
Here are a few more photos they took at the inauguration.
I’m a little late on these…BUT better late than never. I actually just uploaded these pics now! I kinda sort of forgot about them… Nonetheless, my girl Anjelah Johnson was the headliner at the Seminole Hard Rock Improv in May, so of course I had to take a crew to check out her show.
Here’s some of our FUNNY group… DJ Affect, Derick G, Manda, me and the Sheltons (Dara and Donald)!
Kimi jumped in for this “ladies” pic.
It was great having Anj around for the week…we hit Ocean Drive one night – can you say MANGO’s! lol
That was the smiley pic, this is the obligatory West Coast photo…
And since she was in So Fla…I brought her by Billie Swamp Safari..we shot video too, but uhm DERICK G!! (hint hint) we’re still waiting on it!
That’s all folks! I’ll post our safari video as soon as it gets edited.
A very good friend of mine, Miss Patty, married her longtime beau (16 years) last weekend in the Bay…a “Love is Forever” event…one of the reasons I made my trek home!
I’ve known the beautiful bride, Patty, for the past decade and she is such a smart, inspirational, wise and did I mention accessorized person!?!? And – she is my Raiderette sister…so you know this wedding was also a RAIDERETTE reunion!!!
It’s ALWAYS so exciting to see everyone and of course take lots of pix!!
There were lots of laughs….
…and plenty of dancing…the night away! Watch out now!!
Love my girls… <3
And — at the reception there was an ice cream stand….we just couldn’t resist!! Caught (on camera) from the backside!! haha
Oprah is having a competition…asking who wants to have their OWN show on her Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN)! Well, of course I’d love to have my OWN show…and after several friends, family and others approached me…it motivated me to put together my own audition! Well, I DID IT, so I’m sharing it here with you! We’ll see what happens..wish me luck!
So, I decided to do a “hair” blog because I got a hair cut, then my sister Alison did…and my other sister Adrienne just had a digital perm done. I’ve been hanging out in my old stomping grounds (Bay Area) for a couple days now…went down to San Jose yesterday and made a stop at Santana Row to get my ‘do done at W’s Salon with my longtime stylist William.
As you can see I’ve added some bangs..I just thought it’d be fun until they grow out…my hair pretty much grows like a weed, so why not? The one thing my sisters and I are blessed with is GOOD HAIR! We’ve all been complimented numerous times on our nice, thick manes…or asked if we have extensions or if it’s our own hair! ha
Yup..it’s all ours and there’s plenty to go around! Today we went to Japantown in San Francisco to visit Arty Salon where my…. sister Adrienne had just gotten a “digital perm”….
….and Alison aka Bologna was going in for a “downsizing!”
Alison has a super THICK head of hair and her texture has the MOST body…I was wondering how the stylist was going to make it without taking an “arm” break! lol I mean the shear amount of hair being taken off her head was so amazing..I had to take a photo! Weave anyone??
Awww..but the finished product was oh so full of lovely locks!!
It’s always good times with my sisters….
And after all the mane’s were in check…we had crepes!
June 14 – Jae Millz performed at BLVD in NYC to showcase (his) “The Flood” mixtapes series… I wasn’t able to make the trek from Miami up north, but I was there in spirit…and apparently via text because I was getting texts and updates all night long! Thanks to everyone, especially the sponsors, who helped make the event a success.
Enjoy these photos from the event courtesy of Bluprint I.D.
Torch of Triple C’s also hit the stage and Cory Gunz, Rugz Bewler, Loaded Lux, Najee, Eb the Celeb, Marisa Mendez and more, as well as Millz family, were all in attendance.
On The Flipside is back with Episode #23! On this show, I used the Miami Beach Marina as the backdrop ant went fishing with a bunch of Miami Dolphins rookies, talk to Danica Patrick about the new racing video game Blur, hit the beach with Sweethearts for Soldiers and have all the highlights from Jason Taylor’s Celebrity Golf Classic dinner event at Martorano’s! I recently added a “consultant” title to my resume…I’ve officially signed on to do consultant work with Going Pro Entertainment. This company which is comprised of former professional dancers and cheerleaders, provides consulting services (among other things) to women who are interested in “Going Pro!” I’m very excited about about devoting some time to this project. I’ve often been (unofficially) providing consulting services on pro teams, public speaking, media training, TV reporting, pageants, etc… as a guest speaker and answering emails, so it seemed like a natural fit to do this for GPE. Pro dance is something I hold close to my heart, as I performed on the sidelines for 3 teams in the NBA and NFL, the Sacramento Kings, Oakland Raiders and Arizona Cardinals. Now, that I’ve retired the poms and dance shoes, I’ve judged several team auditions and consulting for GPE is a way for me to still be involved and give my two cents in upholding tradition and standards!
