Hennessy Artistry – Miami

Saturday night was a great time to be out and about in Miami for the Hennessy Artistry event. Let’s see the BEST  Hip Hop band >> ROOTS CREW with Q-Tip anchoring the live show at the Ice Palace and DJ D-NICE…I KNEW it’d be a night to remember!

So I threw on a new fit and my fresh kicks with the red heels and had a blast!

And– it was like one of those times you run into everyone you haven’t seen in a LONG time! Hmmm… I wonder if it was the lure of live music by great artists, the art display or a night filled with free Hennessy!?!? LOL

As for the show..DJ Irie was a GREAT host and the special performances by EVE and Kat DeLuna were very cool as well… I felt like I was at Dave Chapelle’s Block Party …the vibe was that NICE! Plus, they kept spinning so many of the old school hip hop hits, it took me way back and we danced the night away (my feet were throbbing for a good 24 hours, but that’s okay). I love being around hip hop heads!! 😀

BUT..when they brought out BOBBY BROWN…the place went WILD!

He did Every Little Step, Tender Roni and My Prerogative!! WHAAAT!?!? Amazing…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ADE

Happy Birthday to my little (big) sister Adrienne! Yes, I’m older but in life she is noticeably “taller.” 29 years ago, 6 days before my birthday, she ended my run as an only child… and she’s been following me around ever since! j/k Her September 23 birthday falls on the Virgo/Libra cusp, so when I don’t want to claim her as a fellow Libra…I excuse her for having Virgo tendencies! lol

I am so thankful and blessed to have Adrienne as a sister. She is smart, kind & wise… AND no matter what, she is there for me. She is also a very talented designer and I love to brag about her whenever possible!

COWBOYS & RAIDERETTES

I spent this past weekend in Dallas with 2 of my favorite (Raiderette) sisters… Bec and Anjelah!

And the pinnacle of the weekend was attending the Dallas Cowboys home season opener at the (GI-normous) Cowboys Stadium in Arlington… (where they played DA BEARS yesterday and lost).

When we entered the stadium we were greeted by the papparazzi ..sheesh..can’t Anjelah Johnson go anywhere without being noticed! j/k Okay, the fans were actually there trying to get a glimpse of the players and staff, we just happened to go in through the same entrance! haha

Bec’s twins Reeco and Giselle also kept the game extra exciting for us!!

Baby Boom!

Three of my close friends have all welcomed new additions to their respective family’s in the past month…3 new babies!! So, I wanted to give them a warm welcome on my blog because I am so excited to meet them!!!

First up is Naomi Sky – 08.12.10, 8lbs 14oz, 20 inches long

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAE MILLZ

Happy Birthday to Jae Millz! The Young Money artist is celebrating his born day today (9.11) and I wanted to send him my well wishes… It actually seems like it’s been his birthday forever (going on a month now) because he’s had several celebrations and been all about “VIRGO” season for weeks now! It’s about to be all about LIBRA!!!!! Ha… At any rate, I took him out to Prime 112 for dinner, as my gift to him…although we work together, we are still friends too…going way back. The first birthday I knew him was, well a LONG time ago, he was in SF doing promo and we got him a slice of cheescake from Cheescake Factory in Union Square! Ah, the memories. Anyhoo, we took this self-portrait post-meal and as you can see, I couldn’t get it centered!!

LDW 2010

Here’s a quick Labor Day Weekend 2010 recap. I kept it pretty low key…it started out with a trip to Chi-town for work, then I stayed an extra day to hang out in the windy city and catch up with my good friend Jess.

First up was a pink bus..that was the location for my story shoot…cute, right? What child would not want a part of this??

Then, I took the Metra to Union Station in Chicago to get up with Jess. It was her sister’s bday, so we grubbed on some Filipino food before going to the opening of her nephew’s new restaurant, Chikazawa.

The next day we went shopping in downtown, well actually it was just walking around and then we went by Akira and they were having a buy 2 pairs, get THREE pairs free sale! Serious?? So, that was too good to pass up…needless to say, I walked out with 3, she got 2! 🙂 We both got this pair below..funky, right? **note – even though the photo would make more sense rotated, that is my foot hanging off the armrest of a chair!**

It was a nice and relaxing in the Chi…we finished the night by heading out to the Icon movie theater where we had “VIP” seating and treatment when we went to see “The American.” Shouts to Mike over there for really taking care of us and hooking it up…drinks, food, dessert, strawberries…AND post-movie he gave us a bottle of champagne! Remember — this is at a movie theater! Wow.

I came back to rain in Miami, but that’s just how it is this time of year… and I did something I really don’t do anymore…go out in Miami Beach! I stepped out to DREAM Saturday night for Jae Millz (Miami) Birthday celebration…and it was a lot of fun!

On The Flipside in Austin

My newest episode of On The Flipside is fresh off a Final Cut render! 😉 I’ve spent pretty much all of August in Austin, TX, so why not shoot an episode there as my “backdrop” location!!? For this edition I changed up the graphics a little and had to do subtitles… See the highlights from Nike and Converse’s (inaugural) World Basketball Festival in NYC. Jay-Z performed at Radio City Music Hall, LeBron James hosted kids in Harlem, USA Basketball had an exhibition and NBA players from France, China, Brazil and Puerto Rico all chimed in, in their native language…hence the subtitles! Then we’ve got Matt Barnes doing his annual camp at EA Sports, Golden State Warriors Rookie Ekpe Udoh and CGL Sports Yacht Celebration in Miami, plus a behind the scenes look at the Jacksonville photo shoot for Sweethearts for Soldiers! http://ontheflipsidetv.com/austin/
