Novalash

The things we do for beauty… Well, I recently had an opportunity to get my lashes “extended” by Novalash! I love eyelashes and the idea of “lashing out” with extensions was too exciting to pass up, so as you can see, I went “under.”

aubrey-novalash3

The process was actually pretty relaxing, I just had to keep my eyes closed for about 2 hours, and they said it was okay for me to fall asleep. What they’re basically doing is “extending” you natural lash with a synthetic one….so they attach them to the ones you have, and you can pick how thick or thin you want to go! They will last about 60 days – a normal cycle for your lashes, but you can get them “filled” every four weeks if you choose to keep them up!

All in all, it was an easy process, it didn’t hurt and the results are amazing, I look like I have mascara on all the time! There are some precautions though to make sure they last and stay intact, like you have to use non-glycol makeup remover and there’s also special eyeliner and mascara that Novalash carries to compliment the extensions. So far, I have been very careful to properly maintain my added “beauty!”

And — when it’s all done, voila!! An instant eye-opener, that makes you feel better about going (eye) makeup free!! Here’s a picture of me post-Novalash with Michelle of “Let’s Talk Makeup.” She did my lashes and is also an instructor for Novalash!

Thanks to Ali too!! I LUV my lashes!!

TV Aubrey

A lot of people are always curious about what it is that I actually do (for a living), and there’s often no easy answer to this question because I don’t have typical 9-5 job and I don’t have one company that I do “work” for… My best explanation is that I am a TV Host/Reporter…and essentially that IS what I am! I graduated from SJSU with a Broadcast Journalism degree and have been working in TV for the past several years. These days, I’m a “freelancer”…meaning I work on a contract basis and sometimes I get called in for recurring (production) projects and other times it’s a “one shot” deal. So, my schedule varies and I will travel for different gigs, because that’s just how it is! Anyway, I completely forgot to tell my friends and family to tune into Lifetime this past weekend to see a couple segments I did for a show called “Here’s to Your Health.” The show focus’ on health-related issues and I will be doing field reporting for them. Well, luckily you can watch those segments (that aired this past weekend), right here….

Another project I have been working on, is as a video host for Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us websites…so if you’re online, don’t be surprised to see me on your computer screen soon, talking about toys and everything baby! 😉 Here’s a photo from the set where I’m hanging out with a T-Rex!

And — another behind the scenes shot in the “nursery!”

OTF: Where BROOKLYN at??

I finally finished editing a new episode of On The Flipside!! I shot the intros and wraps on location during a trip to NYC a few weeks back. I’ve definitely been bogged down with other projects and priorities, but I didn’t want to neglect my passion project too much. I’m trying to at least do 1 a month depending on what I have going on!! Anyway, this new show features an exclusive with NBA star turned rapper, the LA Lakers Ron Artest, performing in Hollywood at Highlands Club with the Slam Girls. I also catch up with (my favorite) the Oakland Raiderettes for their annual calendar release party, then there’s highlights from retired NFL player Fred Taylor’s foundation launch event and an interview with Olympic Gymnast Nastia Liukin about her new “Super Girl” clothing line at JC Penney! Be sure to TUNE IN!! http://ontheflipsidetv.com

Special thanks to One9 for his help with this episode!!

HEREAFTER

The Clint Eastwood directed “Hereafter” starring Matt Damon hits theaters today. I checked out a preview earlier this week and while I didn’t LOVE it..it was pretty interesting. The film explores glimpses of the “after-life” through 3 different story-lines of characters in three separate cities in the world, and the trio eventually collide. Each character is experiencing their own “unique” look into that world and each is troubled by it. I guess I shouldn’t say too much because then I’ll really give it away. Now, the movie does kind of just end, leaving you to wonder…okay, what’s next!?!? But, it’s not as much of a mind trip as Inception.

JAY-Z + BING

I attended a press event at the Delano on Miami Beach this evening.  Jay-Z and BING have teamed up with a fun, very creative way to promote his forthcoming book DECODED with an interactive game on BING. The book will be released on November 16. BTW…my friend Luxury Mindz has a page (photo he took) in that book too, so look out for it!!

decodepass

Basically, we all gathered in the pool area of the Delano Hotel and Jay-Z, along with the CEO of BING  made an announcement about his book and showed a video that pretty much showcased the billboards and different marketing of how this Decode Jay-Z stuff works. Now, this is pretty cool..the first person to “decode” a particular page wins that page autographed and there will only be one…and the first guy/fan who successfully decoded, was present…and they presented him with his page! He came all the way from London and he explained how he was able to do the decode. Then, they asked us to all go over to the pool…

Well, when they turned the lights on..this is what we got… the next page to decode! Pretty amazing… it’s the lyrics to Big Pimpin’ if I’m not mistaken. *Sidenote – as I attempted to take the above photo with my blackberry, I sort of had to get up to the very edge of the pool and you know when you try to hold the camera over someone’s head to take a picture…uhm, well I was pretty much doing that over Beyonce’s head (well to the side)…except I didn’t realize it was her until my girl pointed it out to me (after the fact)!! LOL I can be a little oblivious at times… I mean, it’s not like she was wearing a red dress or anything!?!? YES, she was in RED….Ha! Anyhoo, no harm done, but I felt bad…I’m not one to be all pushy, but I was so taken by the pool, I had to snap a photo…and since I was on paparazzi status…I decided to take one of Jigga too!

Here’s the official DECODED + BING description from the press release:

Today Bing, the decision engine from Microsoft, launched a multi-platform search experience and interactive game to help fans decode JAY-Z’s life and lyrics found in his debut book, DECODED. Through an unprecedented partnership with Bing, JAY-Z’s words will be taken off the page allowing readers to find the very locations that inspired them.

Online, fans will find a one of a kind search experience built on Bing technologies using Bing Maps and Bing Entertainment to walk the streets JAY-Z walked, searching and deciding how to decode his life and lyrics at every turn.  Over the course of one month, five to ten pages will be unveiled each day, allowing fans to come together as a community to compile DECODED online before it hits bookshelves.  200 winners and one grand prize winner will be selected from the people who help uncover the 300-plus pages, located in 15 locations around the world and in Bing Maps.

You know, maybe I should get in on this puzzle solving stuff, I really like exercising my mind, and one of my friends was telling me (not too long ago) how popular this scavenger hunt stuff is getting. So, go ahead…it’s your chance to Decode Jay -Z with BING! http://bing.com/jay-z

Lucky Charms

I am so excited about my newest piece of jewelry, that I had to share it with everyone! JenLove Jewelry made me my very own Charm Bracelet, and not just any charm bracelet, but one laced with lots of LUCK!!

When she approached me over the summer about what type of charms I might like on my bracelet, I thought I can always use a little “luck.” Well, she outdid herself with this silver bracelet adorned with clovers, hearts & horseshoes…and I love the “key to my heart” to which there is also a lock! The lavender flower is a great accent as well to highlight all the purple, blue and green tones of the other jewels and beads.

Check out this post she wrote about me on her site: http://www.jenlovejewelry.com/2010/10/aubrey-aquino-bracelet-and-jenlove.html

A BIG THANK YOU to Jennylyn… This is such a special gift… I’m a LUCKY GIRL!!!

VEGAS…Again!

Everyone always teases me about how many friends I have that are getting married..so it’s always a wedding, shower, bachelorette party, etc… and well yes, honestly there have been and continue to be a lot for those said events! At any rate, I just spent another 48 hours in Sin City, this time for my home girl Carol!!

I met Carol years ago when we were in college I was at SJSU and she went to CSU Hayward…is it CSU East Bay now!??! Anyway, over the years we have taken many girl trips and she’s always been there for me. We even traveled to Australia together in 2002!! This trip was SO MUCH FUN! It was a great time being silly and getting all dolled up with these girls who kept me laughing all weekend. I call this crew the “Santa Clara” crew, since that’s where they’re all from (Norma, Claire, Roselle & Arlyn – who is not pictured) …and we go way back to high school!!

I love the background of this picture (above) which is actually the wall outside of our hotel, Vdara at the new City Center. Those were my roomies for the weekend…we had an awesome suite!! 🙂

Night 1 we went to XS at Encore…good times!!

One of the highlights of the night was my $100 (tip) chip for being a “good luck charm” at the craps table!!

I LOVE this shot of me and Claire walking through Wynn as we were leaving…

The next day our feet were still sore, but we got up and headed to brunch…and you know we all were on the SAME PAGE cuz everyone got the “green” memo! LOL Total coincidence, but we all rocked the color of $MONEY$ … 🙂

And — stopped by the Vdara pool…still HOT in October!

Night 2 we did some traditional “bachelorette” party activities…

..then dinner at Aria and out to Haze nightclub. *Note – I did not get the everyone wear black except the “bride-to-be” memo! haha But hey, gray is the new black..just a lighter shade!!

All in all, such GREAT times with good friends!!
