OTF – Ep. 29: Wynwood!!!

Whew! I just edited my 29th episode of On The Flipside!! This one is a little extra special because I fine tuned my audio editing skills and exported it entirely in HD..but then BLIP (which I use to host my videos) only lets me upload 1GB and since this is more than 1GB…well on blip and facebook it’s SD, but youtube is HD!

At any rate, for this episode I hosted from the Wynwood (art) District of Miami and it features Michael Jordan’s 10th Annual Celebrity Invitational in Las Vegas, my sit down interview with Minnesota Viking Bryant McKinnie and a close up with Sideline Distraction Katie of the Sacramento Kings Dance Team… and of course the SKDT is a little closer to my heart because well I used to dance for them – my first PRO dance team, AND next season they may be (in Sacto) NO MORE! 🙁 Anyway, tune in, watch and enjoy!! This episode and all the preceding 28 episodes can be found at http://ontheflipsidetv.com

South Beachin’

I spent a nice day at the beach yesterday with some good friends! Now, although I live just a few miles away, I don’t take advantage of it enough…so I made the conscious effort to hit South Beach for some fun in the  sun! 🙂

Cat trekked down from Jax to hang and Dara and Alexis joined too…

…then we escorted the bros from Chicago into the ocean – I told them not to worry about sharks! lol

Rene showed up with an umbrella later in the day…and Jevon tried again and again and again to get it to stay in the sand…the thing tried to fly away a good 3-4 times. There must be some special trick to making it stay!

FUN FUN FUN in the SUN SUN SUN

Ocho Rios

I just got back from a few fun-filled days in Ocho Rios, Jamaica…and for once it was purely vacay! It was my 3rd visit to Jamaica, first time in Ocho Rios. Ya mon!

My friend Anny managed to escape the cold of DC to come hang with me in paradise and it was very relaxing…

We stayed at the Sandals resort which was great because we were among a handful of “non-couples!” LOL It was nice though, no one was hitting on us or disturbing our peace, other than the staff… And – being an all-inclusive resort, we could eat and drink at will!! So, I spent the majority of my time, sleeping, eating and taking in the sun…

We did venture out…just a little, stopping at a roadside fruit stand to check out the local offerings. Here I am sampling a fresh coconut…

…while Anny ate the fruit!

We also went horseback riding (courtesy Hooves) in the ocean which was VERY cool…

…sans the “sea biscuits” …. NO BUENO!!

DSCF5841

The name of my horse was Mr. Meticulous. All the horses they use are former race horses…kinda cool to play “jockey!” ha

DSCF5838

One night…I was even put on the spot during the beach party where the “fire-man” picked me out of the crowd to stand in this ring of fire and stare at with his intense facials! lol

DSCF5855

It was actually kinda cool to get picked, since I’ve never been chosen at the luau’s in Hawaii – I think I look too much like a local girl! Anyway, he left a bunch of grease or something on my arm after touching me with fire…

So, prefect weather, low humidity and loved the soft-serve ice cream machine… All in all, nice trip with the right amount of R&R!

Sustainatopia Honors 2011

Last weekend I had the distinct honor of being the emcee for the first ever Sustainatopia Honors 2011, held in Miami Beach at the brand new, state of the art, extremely gorgeous Frank Gehry/New World Symphony Building! Here’s a brief description of what the event was celebrating…

SUSTAINATOPIA HONORS 2011, presented by PLUM TV is the world’s premier awards ceremony honoring those doing GOOD through impact investing, philanthropy, and sustainable business practice. Hundreds of global leaders in investment, social entrepreneurship and philanthropy will gather to celebrate those committed to doing GOOD and changing our world forever.

My friend Amaris, who is a director at PLUM, introduced me to the founder of Sustainatopia (John Rosser), and they asked me to play hostess for the fabulous evening! I had the pleasure of presenting the awards to a wonderful group of honorees that included designer Donna Karan, model Selita Ebanks, artist Romero Britto, actress Maria Bello, Michael Capponi and so many other wonderful do-gooders! Others in the star-studded crowd included Venus Williams, DJ Irie and Lea Black.

OTF: Bryant McKinnie

Last week (On The Flipside) I had a chance to sit down with Minnesota Viking Bryant McKinnie who just returned from a trip to Rwanda and Uganda. His journey was as part of a missionary trip with Pros for Africa, where he teamed up with other NFL players to bring aid to Africa. He had some great insight and invited me and the crew into his home for the interview.

We were also able to get some video clips and photos from his trip to build into the edit…so, you can watch it below. Usually I wait until I have all my segments to edit into one show, but for now I think I’ll just post them individually and also edit the full shows when I have all my content, so be on the lookout for that On The Flipside!!

2011 Gold Rush Dancer

rachel

I am SO HAPPY and PROUD to congratulate one of the newest members of the San Francisco 49ers Gold Rush – RACHEL (#24)! I have been working with Rachel since February, after meeting her during the Miami Pro Dance Convention I coordinated for Going Pro Entertainment. Following that successful event, she enlisted my one on one consultation services to fine tune her dance, flexibility, appearance, interview skills, etc… ALL the details for her to be audition ready! Rachel is a Miami Beach native who decided to head to the Bay Area to pursue both her dance and career goals (she’s an MIT grad – Chemical Engineering). I LOVE success stories and hers is one of pure dedication, commitment and heart to reach her goal. She certainly earned this well-deserved opportunity!! I’ll have to put her on as a “Sideline Distraction: On The Flipside” soon!
