Miso for Life

I am happy and excited to announce that pre-orders for my book are now available!! Earlier this year I was asked if I would like to be a contributing writer to  “Miso for Life, “the 2nd Anthology of A Melting Pot of Thoughts, published by 13 Minutes Books. I was very flattered and graciously accepted the invite to be part of the book… to share an intimate story from my life… And — now the time has come for the book’s release >> https://ameltingpotofthoughts.ticketbud.com/misoforlife

Pre-order for $13 NOW til Nov.13 using this promo code >> 13forthirteen

A Melting Pot of Thoughts is home to writers of all ages and backgrounds where they come together to share their heartwarming tales that will make us laugh, cry, and appreciate the simple things in life.

A Melting Pot of Thoughts houses collections of short stories and poems that takes readers on a journey of the many expressions of love, through the lens of Asian and other cultures. Immigrants will grapple with their new identity. Children will reminisce about mom’s homemade cooking. Parents will lose sleep over new generational gaps. Lovers will dance through the cultural lines. Friends will enjoy each other’s company over a tasty meal while discussing the heartaches, the challenges, and joys of life.

No matter where we are in our journey through life, these essays and poems will remind the readers that – in the end – love still conquers all. Its inspiring words will stir passion in their hearts and make their spirits soar.

Info listed at https://ameltingpotofthoughts.ticketbud.com/misoforlife also includes the red carpet release which will be happening in SoCal this December. The previous and first book in the anthology, “Pho For Life,” was released in 2011 and did quite well…so I’m anxious to see how “Miso for Life” does this year…with MY contribution! 😉 Yep, it feels good to be a published “author” (again)!! Thanks in advance for your support!

Take Me Out To The Ball Game

I took in a ball game Friday night at (Miami) Marlins Park! The facility is brand new this year, and it’s a really cool place to watch a game and escape the South Florida “elements.” It has a retractable roof, which has been closed every time I’ve watched a game there so far, but even when it’s closed, it still has an outdoorsy feel.

This last game the Phillies were visiting the Marlins and we had really awesome seats behind home plate! Now, I’ve never been a baseball/MLB fan, but having been to a few games at this new park and consciously trying to focus on the game, I think I’m actually getting into it! I’m learning who the players are, about strategy, understanding the rules and stats better… 🙂

Anyway, another one of my favorite features/details at this new park is the aquarium, well huge fish tank they have, that sits on the ground, wrapping around home plate! Next time you watch a game, when they show a shot of the guy at bat, look past him to the tank! Don’t mind the shoe in this photo either…get beyond it! haha

Finally, they have this huge sculpture “thing” that sits in the back of the park, which apparently will light up and move around when the Marlins hit a home run…  When you see it, you’re kinda like WTH is that!?!? Now, I’m just waiting for someone to hit a home run when I’m there so I can see all of it’s fancy bells and whistles go off!! haha As you can see in the photo, the park also has it’s very own “Clevelander,” so South Beach, so Miami…and from what I hear tons of fun! If you go, don’t forget your 2-piece, they’ve got a pool in there where you can take a dip AND still get a great view of the game.

New OTF Segments

A few new segments have been posted On the Flipside in the past month or so… I haven’t filmed any new “full” episodes, but that doesn’t mean the content stops! You can watch below and visit http://ontheflipsidetv.com for more!!! 🙂

Miami HEAT superstar Dwyane Wade talks about his latest kicks, the Fly Wade 2.

On The Flipside teams up with Bay Tiger Video Productions to film highlights of a rare, Bay Area appearance by Mike Tyson! The meet and greet took place at Undisputed Boxing Gym where Tyson personally autographed an exclusive lithograph for fans and posed for photos!

Painting With A Twist

Last Saturday night, we celebrated my dear friend and Deco Producer Odette’s birthday by getting our creative juices flowing at a new concept “store” called Painting with a Twist! I checked out the website before I went (they have locations in city’s all over the country), BUT honestly, I didn’t think I could really create a true masterpiece work of art!! LOL The idea is you bring a group of friends and your own wine..then paint, drink and be merry!!

Luckily we had a very patient master artist leading our class..he’s also a former Deco Producer..Eric! He asked if we had ever painted before, I thought about my childhood “paint by number” and water color sets….then I asked if murals/posters, etc.. for high school rallies count?? haha  I’m sure at some point I have painted even if it was an adolescent art class. Anyway, birthday girl Odette chose a moonlit ocean/palm tree scene, and step by step we each put paint on the canvass to make our own (re)creation!

This was really a fun way to hang out and feel artistic and use the other side of our brain…. 🙂 We learned different brush strokes, how to make colors and I’m happy to say everyone was able to complete the task!!

SEEE! Yes…I PAINTED THAT!!! And — here’s a closer look…

I can’t wait to hang it up in the closet!! j/k So, if you’re looking for something else to do on a fun night out with a twist…give this a try, PAINTING WITH A TWIST!! You will be amazed at what you can do, all by yourself!

An “Irie” Christmas

The one and only DJ Irie hosted a FANTASTIC holiday party on Miami Beach last night with Ludus, to support his Irie Foundation. I am proud to say that Irie was one of my first “Miami friends” before moving to Florida, and since that time his star has grown exponentially..and very well deserved! He is one of the hardest working people I know, but always stays humble, gracious and grounded…I can’t say enough.

All that being said, anytime I can support and attend one of his events, I do my best to be there! Well, last night he definitely outdid himself. He hosted the most lavish, decadent, holiday party on Miami Beach at a private residence and he pulled out all the stops with theme, decor and entertainment..in true MIA fashion! From elf-fitted servers to nutcrackers, Santa and a crew of “Ho, Ho, Ho’s”…there was snow, elaborate lighting, exotic cars, Stoli drinks flowing and of course the music to put you in the Holiday spirit..or just party mode!

Nutcracker

Posters and promo for the San Francisco Ballet’s Nutcracker are starting to pop up all over San Francisco… and how cool must it be to see your work displayed all over the city you love?!? Well, that’s a reality for my sister Ade, since she’s the in-house graphic designer for the San Francisco Ballet! So, if you’re in the Sucka Free keep your eyes peeled, because her work is everywhere..BART stations, MUNI buses, Cable Cars, city walkways, etc… Peep some examples below!
