NBA All Star Weekend

I made a trip to the desert (Phoenix) for NBA All Star weekend…I was multi-tasking between visiting with my West Coast girls, making new friends and working On The Flipside! (Above) That’s the “Sneaker Sensei” with me and my girls at the “Best of the West” gaming competition at Stoudemire’s Downtown.

Highlights of the weekend included the Lexus Fashion Show, House of Hennessy and NBPA Gala, as well as hanging out at the W Hotel in Scottsdale! Look out for my All Star interviews with Chamillionaire, Akon, Jadakiss, Dominique Wilkins, Jason Kapono, Adonal Foyle and more of the sights and sounds from Phoenix…on the All Star edition of On The Flipside!

Rick Ross Birthday Yacht Party

An EXCLUSIVE look at Rick Ross’ birthday (yacht) party on the Princess Lady…and after party at Karu and Y! It was a very nice soiree and I did feel special to be among his family and friends for this intimate celebration…DJ Khaled, Shawty Lo, Masspike Miles, Cool and Dre, Alex Vega, C.O., Gunplay, Triple C’s, Chad Johnson and Gil Green were all in attendance.

January Recap

January 2009 certainly got off to a quick start for me! There have already been lots of ups and downs, but it’s all BUSY BUSY! From attending Rick Ross’ bday yacht party (check back for video soon) to a Tampa road trip for the Super Bowl…I’m gonna keep pushin’…to make it happen On The Flipside! Afterall, I’m the captain of this ship!

Here’s a few more pix from the Tampa trip…

My President is Black

I wish I had made the trek to DC for the inauguration. It’s definitely the place to be at such an exciting time for the country, and January 20, 2009 is a day so many never thought they would ever see in their lifetime! I am so proud to be an American and overjoyed to have a President who I can really identify with…a fellow minority who speaks to my generation! I distinctly remember when I was young, maybe 6 or 7 years old and my Auntie Cici asked me if my Dad could be anything, what job would I want him to have…and I responded the President of the United States! She laughed, maybe because it wasn’t possible since my Dad wasn’t born in the U.S. or maybe because back then she didn’t believe a person of color could ever win. Well, the time has come. I know it’s tough times for so many right now, but if we can all hang in there and keep believing, “A Change is Gonna Come” because we ARE making progress! Tomorrow the entire world will welcome the 44th President of the United States of America, Barack Obama! YES WE CAN!

BTW…anyone who’s been in my car the past 5 months knows I’ve been bumpin that Jeezy and Nas… “My President is Black…” 🙂

Slip N Slide’s 15th Anniversary

When you think of Miami music, you think Luke, booty music, Trick Daddy, Trina and now there’s Rick Ross, Plies, Pitbull, etc… Well, Slip N Slide Records is respoonsible for so much of that hip hop music and they’re celebrating 15th years in the biz! The rooftop party at Hotel Victor in South Beach had a big turnout, and I had a great time…worked a little, then had to help ’em celebrate! BTW…Keith Sweat performed and it took me way back…think San Jose, Hot 97.7 in the late 80’s…lol I was just a youngin back then! *sigh*

“I Am Music”

Lil Wayne’s “I Am Music” world tour kicked off at Miami’s American Airlines Arena last night. My NY fam came into town, but (big bro) Tone said, “No paparazzi” and wouldn’t let me take his picture, but it’s all good, since the effort was for the homie Jae Millz (who gladly posed with me for a blog picture). He’s on tour with Young Money and is featured on the “Dedication 3” mixtape…go out and get it!

The show was nice. Millz did his thing and was looking good! He introduced me to some of the other Young Money artists, like Mack Maine, who might just be the next big thing! T-Pain and his THR33 Rings performed before Wayne and Young Money…it was definitely circus-like, the crowd loved that he closed his set with “I’m So Hood,” by bringing out local favs – DJ Khaled, Trick Daddy and Ace Hood. I missed Keyshia Cole and Gym Class Heroes, but I’m sure they put on a good show too! Also spy-ed in the crowd (from my ‘VIP’) backstage vantage point…Birdman, actress Lauren London, Super Producer Timbaland, Miami HEAT Rookie Forward Michael Beasley and Floyd Mayweather. Here are more of the pix I took during the show…
