Hosting Happy Hour Online

Before the pandemic, I had heard of zoom and I knew you could do these old school “party line,” style FaceTime calls, etc… but I never made time to do them or participate in them. Well, the past couple weeks, me and zoom have made fast friends, and these virtual meet-ups with my family and friends are now something I look forward to. I love the creativity in how people are connecting and being engaged with each other, and this includes celebrating “happy hour” too!

Lifestyle expert Paul Zahn joined me virtually to talk about his ideas for how to plan a virtual happy hour! He talked about using items you already have at home, picking a theme and designating a host. It’s that easy, so go, be social and have a great virtual happy hour!

Meal Planing

Most of us like to eat, but many of us struggle when it comes to cooking up new recipes or stepping outside of our comfort zone when we’re in the kitchen and grocery store. Okay, I know I can’t speak for everyone, but I will admit, I tend to stick to what I know when I shop for food or order ff the menu at a restaurant. I struggle with wanting to eat healthier versus eating what’s readily available, and that internal battle happens more often than not!

Lately there’s been a buzz around meal delivery services, meal prep and meal planning. I’m usually the last to try new things, and so I haven’t whole-hardheartedly experienced any of the above, but I have done some online research and learned a little about how it works..either from people around me or posts I see on the internet.

Today I had the opportunity to chat with Scott Jones of eMeals and he told me how the app works and how it can help make life easier when it comes to food to feed your family, whether it’s new meal ideas, grocery shopping and/or meal planning. And, I have to say, in this day of grocery delivery and shopping online, maybe it’s time to start seriously considering the “futuristic” way of grocery/meal shopping in a simpler, more convenient way.

TV Host Reel

If you’re looking in the market for a job on TV, the one thing you need is a demo reel. Over the (many) years I have edited several reels (work examples) together, and this weekend I decided to put together a new one featuring some of the work I have done as a TV Lifestyle Correspondent and Host.

Fortunately or unfortunately actually, I have A LOT of footage…my problem is deciding which ones I like and what to include. The fun part is it’s like taking a small trip down memory lane going through my (TV) work clips, and recalling all the different people, places and experiences I have met along the way. It’s always refreshing for me to look back and see how I have been blessed with so many awesome experiences by simply doing my job!

Spotted on the Small Screen

Sometimes I do a little lifestyle modeling (acting), and a new spot just came out that I did for Fitbit’s new Inspire. See if you can find me in the clip below!

Some of the still images for the campaign should be coming out in stores soon.

Live Larger

muni-busbus2

Today I discovered that I have apparently been gracing Muni bus shelters and other like advertising spaces around the city of San Francisco! The poster ads are for Parkmerced, a luxury apartment community in the city, and the concept was to depict the cramped living conditions synonymous with SF living. So, in my shot we were in a super tight kitchen space and we were having to contort our bodies to get around each other!

It was a fun shoot, very creative, and really didn’t tak etoo long, they knew exactly what they wanted. And could you have guessed, there was actually no furniture/cabinetry in the shot. We had to pretend that was there, and then they edited it into the photo later….pretty cool, huh?

I’m happy to share that I am on the cover of the Build.com 2016 fall catalog! I grabbed some screen shots below from the PDF version of the catalog. It’s me with my pretend family..and dog!

I traveled out to Chico for this one day shoot, since that’s where build.com is located. Thanks to NYLO for booking this for me. Good times!

A Day on Set at the Beringer Winery

Beringer_Nov2015_T+C_0771

Late last year I was booked as a model for a lifestyle photo shoot at the Beringer Winery in St. Helena, California. I didn’t have to think very hard about accepting the gig…I knew it’d be a beautiful backdrop and I’d be surrounded by wine! And — I’d be “working”!! Recently I was lucky enough to have several of the final images shared with me and so in turn, I wanted to share some of my favorites on here.

There were 5 other models selected and these images will be used in print ads and/or other mailers and visuals for the winery. Yes, I had a wine glass in my hand for virtually every shot, but no, I was not drinking on set!

The set ups were gorgeous, table settings to envy… don’t you love my arm and bracelet above!?! Hint: Blue blazer and gold bracelet.

The Hampton Roads Show

Tomorrow will be my first day on air as a (new) Host of The Hampton Roads Show at WAVY TV 10 in the Portsmouth/Norfolk/Virginia Beach market! Yep, I have moved on from Miami. This is truly a unique and awesome opportunity to host a dynamic daily lifestyle and entertainment show! I’m really excited to be part of something like this and although moving and transitions can be tough, sometime we just have to change it up and push ourselves on to the “next.”

Think Today Show/Live with Kelly and Michael…hot topics, makeovers, giveaways, cooking, comedians, live bands/artists, local interviews, etc… I do have a co-host in Chris Reckling, so it’s not completely my own show, but pretty close. I am excited for the opportunity because these kind of hosts jobs don’t happen everyday! Plus, it’s kind of like something I’ve always dreamed of doing, and I told myself I would only go back to TV full time to host my own show…dreams do come true!

The hour-long show airs everyday at 11am on the NBC affiliate in the Hampton Roads market, so if you’re in the area tune in…otherwise you can visit the website and see clips from the show…

Ariane Aramburo is the outgoing host, as she returns to her home state of Alaska, to take a Morning Anchor position there. I wish her the best of luck!!! Above is a little snapshot of us as she “passes the torch,” from one AA to another… 😉
