Alice in Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland is a visually stimulating, fun-filled ride into a beautiful world of fantasy. Right off the top, the vibrant colors and unique characters suck you in with 3D visuals. Tim Burton’s spin-off from the original tale works very well and Disney has a hit once again! I know going into it, it seemed like it might be scary for the little ones given the trailer, but I can assure’s not too “scary.” I just really enjoyed seeing all these characters come to life with such authenticity and personality. Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Anne Hathaway in character as the White Queen and Helena Bonham Carter playing the Red Queen, all do fantastic jobs playing their parts. The story is so captivating and never was there a dull moment, again from the stunning visuals which keep you captivated from start to finish, cute dialogue, beautiful costuming and action, adventure, comedy and drama! Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb were also very charming in a “clueless” way! A few of my favorite things from the movie: the “EAT ME” cake in the film looked so yummy I wanted to try it – figures my sweet tooth always consumes my thoughts, I also loved Johnny Depp’s carrot orange eyebrows and winter wonderland (white) castle, landscaped with so many cherry blossom trees – SO Pretty!! So my suggestion is see it in 3D, see it in IMAX, it’s fun, it’s fantasy, it’s a must see!

Valentine’s Day

I went to an early “Valentine’s Day” screening last night with my comadre Gabriela who was still in town visiting with me from the Super Bowl festivities…so we’ll do my take and then hers…

Aubrey says – I thought it was ‘good’…I think I was expecting more with the “star power” of Julia Roberts, Patrick Dempsey, Jamie Foxx, Jessica Alba, Ashton Kutcher, George Lopez, Jennifer Garner, Jessica Biel, Anne Hathaway, Bradley Cooper, etc… It was a lot of little story lines meshed into one with the central theme being love and having a Valentine… and while it could be a nice date movie, it was pretty regular and they could’ve cut out a few of the “stories.” The only story liek that pulled at my heart strings was the one involving Julia Roberts character, other than that I didn’t get too much of THAT lovin’ feelin.’

Gaby says – I’d say it’s a cute movie…going into it, I thought it was going to be a tear-jerker, but it turned out to be more of a comedy and something that’d be nice for a first date. There was one really hot guy in the movie who played a love-frustrated football player, so he was easy on the eyes, until his story took a turn. My daughter was a little upset that I watched it without her, but I’ll still take her to see it. **Note – Gaby did not cry during “Marley and Me.”
