LDW 2010

Here’s a quick Labor Day Weekend 2010 recap. I kept it pretty low key…it started out with a trip to Chi-town for work, then I stayed an extra day to hang out in the windy city and catch up with my good friend Jess.

First up was a pink bus..that was the location for my story shoot…cute, right? What child would not want a part of this??

Then, I took the Metra to Union Station in Chicago to get up with Jess. It was her sister’s bday, so we grubbed on some Filipino food before going to the opening of her nephew’s new restaurant, Chikazawa.

The next day we went shopping in downtown, well actually it was just walking around and then we went by Akira and they were having a buy 2 pairs, get THREE pairs free sale! Serious?? So, that was too good to pass up…needless to say, I walked out with 3, she got 2! ๐Ÿ™‚ We both got this pair below..funky, right? **note – even though the photo would make more sense rotated, that is my foot hanging off the armrest of a chair!**

It was a nice and relaxing in the Chi…we finished the night by heading out to the Icon movie theater where we had “VIP” seating and treatment when we went to see “The American.” Shouts to Mike over there for really taking care of us and hooking it up…drinks, food, dessert, strawberries…AND post-movie he gave us a bottle of champagne! Remember — this is at a movie theater! Wow.

I came back to rain in Miami, but that’s just how it is this time of year… and I did something I really don’t do anymore…go out in Miami Beach! I stepped out to DREAM Saturday night for Jae Millz (Miami) Birthday celebration…and it was a lot of fun!

The rest of the weekend was pretty much spent sleeping…and now, back to the grind!

Devito Restaurant – South Beach

This week’s throwback video is from June 2007…the Grand Opening of Devito in South Beach, Miami. I remember this day, I had a full day of story shoots, so I had went from one location, then home for a quick shower and back out for this event…my hair wasn’t done, hence the bun! AND — I was the ONLY reporter to get the *exclusive* one on one interview with Danny that day, so it was kinda of like a big deal!

Rush Hour 3, Miami Beach Premiere

Recently I’ve been looking over my work from past years, and I decided that I’m going to start posting “throwback” clips every Friday, of some of my favorite stories and memorable interviews! To kick off this “series” I’ve decided to go back to August 2007 for the Rush Hour 3 (Miami Beach) Red Carpet Premiere, when I interviewed Brett Ratner LIVE on Deco Drive! He invited me to the after party, the after after party and earlier in the day he had said he’d put me in Rush Hour 4….I’m still waiting to be cast – if the 4th installment ever comes to fruition – but at least I have him on tape committing to me! ha

I did attend the “after” party at Forge, but not the after, AFTER party! Here’s a couple shots from the red carpet!

Nowhere Lounge

So, there’s this really cool new space on Miami Beach called Nowhere Lounge + Event Space. It’s available only for private functions and is a great space to have an event and after party all in one! See for yourself…

Sunrise Shoot

I did an EARLY morning sunrise photo shoot this weekend on Miami Beach for no reason in particular. My friend and talented photographer Ivan of Bluprint I.D. was in town from NYC, so why not take advantage of his skills and the lovely landscape here that I don’t take enough advantage of! haha I mean, I need new profile pics! JUST KIDDING!

At any rate, it felt so good to be up and about at 6am…and IN nature. The beach is so peaceful and breathtaking at that time of day and it felt good to be all up in it and watch the sunrise!

I also spotted these blue oval ‘jellyfish’ – I’m assuming! I had stepped into the water and around the shoreline, minding my own business and I saw these and freaked out! You never seen me run so fast…haha Ivan tried to say aren’t they just some type of oyster shell?? Then he picked one up and felt the jelly-like texture and didn’t push me to be in the water anymore…lol

Anyway, Ivan says we took some amazing shots…and the lighting was too good to be true! Below are a couple UNEDITED shots that he sent over so I could get an idea of what they lookin’ like. I will share some of the edited joints when I get them…but so far, I think I’m lovin’ the scenery..it looks unreal! A lot of the pics I looked at on his cam..I said, “Is that me?” ๐Ÿ˜‰

And this one, I don’t think it looks like me at all…what’s up with my puffy face!? As my girl Kimi said, “You look different…” However, baby sister Bologna commented, “…you look like Mom.” <<< The ultimate compliment!

At any rate, can you believe how vibrant the colors are and how the sky just pops in these UNEDITED pics!!? CRAZY…

Aquavana take me away!!

I got a taste of the Aquavana experience the other day. It’s a pretty cool series of showers and “cabins” located within the Canyon Ranch (Miami Beach) Spa. The ‘experience’ are free to any hotel guest and or with any treatment or visit to the spa. The ones that stood out to me were the Experiential Showers – the audio/shower noises crack me up, the Igloo – super cold, but the infused aromas give off a nice cool, refreshed feeling and the Herbal Laconium…I have fun just saying it! Toward the end of the video segment…what do those strobes and the shower scene remind you of??? PSYCHO, huh? All I needed was to add that sound effect and work on my acting skills….lol

Pretty Wings

Pollo Tropical is now serving grilled chicken wings and it became my assignment to take them to the masses and see what “the people” think! And, in Deco style I suited up with my own set of *Pretty Wings* (VS Angel style) and a couple wingmen to do the taste tests on Miami Beach… In my opinion the wings are really good without dipping sauce, I’m all about ranch though (even though that’s not tropical). lol I love their Mango Tropichiller too! Sorry West Coast…no Pollo Tropical for you.
