OTF: EP. 31 – Chrissy Field

My latest episode of On The Flipside is out….and since I’m in the Bay, we shot this one near the Golden Gate Bridge at Chrissy Field in San Francisco.

Lots of fun stuff on this edition. First In Oakland for Seattle Seahawk Marshawn Lynch and his cousin Tampa Bay Buccaneer Josh Johnson’s youth football camp, Marshawn’s fellow Cal teammate Justin Forsett and Pittsburgh Steeler Lamarr Woodley were also there to help out. Then, it’s always a good time with DJ Irie…back in Miami for his 7th Annual “Irie Weekend.” I caught up with him, Lil Jon, Lil Jon sons DJ Slade, New Orleans Saint Darren Sharper and former N*SYNC-er Chris Kirkpatrick. also have video highlights from Red Bull’s red Bulletin launch party with Reggie Bush and the Sideline Distraction is an Orlando Magic Dancer!

Stylin’

I had the awesome opportunity and experience to get “styled” at Banana Republic today at their Flagship store on Grant in SF..GINORMOUS!! I was set up with a personal shopper, and after I gave them my two cents ahead of time of the types of things I like, what styles I’m looking for and what I’m trying to do fashion-wise, they created a beautiful set-up in a fitting room for me so I could try to a bunch of new “looks!!”

My “stylists” Sayareh and Nanci did a great job of selecting items in-line with what I had told them I wanted, and there were several combinations and options to mix and match all the pieces.

br1

One of my “issues” is that since I’ve been living in Miami the past 5 years, my wardrobe is reflective of that….and now being in the Bay Area, it’s different – like sometimes my sister Ade says I’m looking a little “bootylicious,” because of how fitted my clothing can be, and then learning to layer is a must since the temps can range 30 degrees, depending where you are in the Bay.  I mean, in South Florida anything goes when it comes to dress, but I also felt the need to update myself to a more ‘mature’ look!! And — the GREAT thing I learned in the stylin’ session is that you can still look good, feel sexy and show off your shape, with chic sophistication!

br2

There were crop pants and long pants, scarves, shoes, blouses, jackets, vests, cardigans, dresses, hats, bags and belts…. After more than an hour of trying stuff on and figuring out what worked and what didn’t, I was able to narrow down my choices (that fit in the budget) of what I wanted to purchase and bring home! Typically my fashion sense is to keep it simple and safe, so having a personal shopper/stylist to show you different ways to wear things or try on clothes you would’ve never looked twice at was a very cool experience. I had done something like this once before at Neiman Marcus Bal Harbour for more formal upscale wear, but it’s always great to have an “expert” around to have an honest, second opinion and allow them to inject their fashion sense into you!!

br

So, yeah…I highly recommend the experience… Just beware, unless you are prepared to BUY EVERYTHING you fall in love with…stay focused! I may be seeing some of the items I left in the store in my dreams! ha

2011 Gold Rush Dancer

rachel

I am SO HAPPY and PROUD to congratulate one of the newest members of the San Francisco 49ers Gold Rush – RACHEL (#24)! I have been working with Rachel since February, after meeting her during the Miami Pro Dance Convention I coordinated for Going Pro Entertainment. Following that successful event, she enlisted my one on one consultation services to fine tune her dance, flexibility, appearance, interview skills, etc… ALL the details for her to be audition ready! Rachel is a Miami Beach native who decided to head to the Bay Area to pursue both her dance and career goals (she’s an MIT grad – Chemical Engineering). I LOVE success stories and hers is one of pure dedication, commitment and heart to reach her goal. She certainly earned this well-deserved opportunity!! I’ll have to put her on as a “Sideline Distraction: On The Flipside” soon!

West Coast Pro Dance Convention

I am so excited to return home to the Bay Area next weekend, not only am I going to see tons of family and friends, but I am bringing a very exciting event to the area. Many people know I have a background that includes dancing and cheering in the NBA and NFL…it’s something near and dear to my heart. These days, I get sore after an hour or 2 of dance, but I still got it! lol..uh sort of… Anyway, it’s not about me. The event I’m talking about is the Going Pro Entertainment: West Coast Pro Dance Convention which will be held at Crunch in Danville, CA on Saturday, March 12, 2011.

It’s not a competition, it’s not an audition, it’s a fun, all day convention filled with dance choreography taught by Pro Alumni & a fitness boot camp, paired with makeup, hair, interview, attire and photography presentations! The workshop is open to current, pro and aspiring cheerleaders and dancers, and most of the attendees are in the early to mid 20’s, however we have had juniors and seniors in high school attend as well as women in their 30’s. We’re all Alumni from the NFL, NBA, AFL, etc… If you are thinking about auditioning for the San Francisco 49ers Gold Rush, Oakland Raiderettes, Golden State Warriors or Sacramento Kings, etc… this clinic a great starting point! We are a great alternative to a team’s official prep classes for Pro Dance and Cheer auditions because you don’t have to worry about messing up or doing the wrong thing ( we aren’t judging you), and there’s no need to hold back when asking questions. Our focus is to get you prepared and ready to have the best audition of your life…we are here to help!! So sign up today >>> Registration & info for the (Bay Area) event is at http://westcoastprodance.eventbrite.com/

AND — just to give you a taste of what people can expect…here are some photos and video highlights from my super successful Miami event!! We had great dancers, current and alumni Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders, alumni Miami HEAT dancers and I’m sure there were at least a few future Pro’s in the mix! 😉

Bay Area Pro Dance Convention

Just as I am organizing the Miami Pro Dance Convention on Sunday, Feb 27, I am also coordinating another event in my hometown Bay Area on Saturday, March 12 for Going Pro Entertainment! The event is designed for current, former or prospective professional dancers and cheerleaders, as well as team’s who need fresh choreography. It’s also a great networking opportunity to meet others in the industry and hear about other auditions!

The March 12 event will be held at CRUNCH in Danville, CA and we have separate AM and PM sessions, with different choreography, so stay the whole day if you like! In addition to myself, the all-star lineup of alumni (so far) includes choreographers:

**Robin Delaney, NFL Raiderettes and Gold Rush, NBA Dancer – Warrior Girls
**Jada Law, NBA Dancer – Sacramento Kings and LA Lakers

And then we’ll have great Q&A opportunities as well as presentations on what you need to know to be prepared for try-outs!

** Cole Martin, former Raiderette Cheerleader will be giving awesome hair/makeup techniques to put your best “face” forward at auditions.
** The Director of Crunch Fitness will be knocking our socks off with a specialized bootcamp and fitness presentation geared specifically to dancers.
** Patty Hererra, alumni Raiderette and Director of Multi-Cultural Initiatives for the Oakland Raiders will give you advice on interview preparation.

There’s more to come, so stay tuned…better yet…SIGN UP!! http://westcoastprodance.eventbrite.com/

One of my bestest childhood friend’s (Maureen) husband, Jaymer, snapped these shots for me a while back in San Francisco. He’s taken up photography and does a really good job…and gets better with every shoot! I think these are from back in February 2009.

I hadn’t posted them and now, looking back at them, I really like my hoodie in the shot, courtesy of Roselle at Nalej in Santa Clara. I think the thing I need to work on is my “pop-out” eyes issue…they get so big when I take pix! lol

Thanks to all who helped on this early morning shoot, my sister Adrienne, Helena, Jo Ill and of course http://www.jaymeriloveyourphotos.com/

Market Street – SF

If you are walking down Market Street in San Francisco…look out for posters that my sister (Adrienne) designed. There are 6 different designs, 24 posters total that are displayed in the kiosks down Market Street. She says they start out around 7th Street by Fox Plaza and Starbucks.

The posters are celebrating the 15 year anniversary of WritersCorps, a non-profit organization that Adrienne has been working with for a few years now. Visit her site at http://adrienneaquino.com/editorial.html
