My Super Bowl Week in the City

The Bay Area Super Bowl has come and gone…and the reality is we probably won’t see it again here anytime soon. Locals are glad the traffic is gone and city life will return to “normal.” I’m glad that it came through the Bay and I was lucky enough to attend some of the events and fanfare leading up to it. No, I didn’t go to the game, lots of people kept asking me if I was going, but I’m more of the mindset that if my team’s not in it, I’m better off watching from the convenience of my couch. I did however attend some of the preceding week’s pre-game soirees around town. I’ve posted some of my favorite snaps from my Super Bowl week in the City below…

Foodie Call – Bay Area LIFE

I just did a couple “Foodie Call” segments for Bay Area LIFE on ABC7 in San Francisco. I love the lifestyle feel of both of them and of course, doing the segment and being “forced” to sample the food afterwards, isn’t bad either! haha!!

At any rate, I wanted to share the videos… The more recent segment I did was actually with a couple of my SJSU buddies who have started a gourmet, “handcrafted” Filipino lumpia business with The Lumpia Company, so on the segment below we featured their Bacon Cheeseburger Lumpia!

Previously the #FoodieCall segment I did was at Rocco’s Cafe in San Francisco where Chef Don Dial whipped up a very tasty Chicken Cacciatore.

This was a fun segment where we cooked in his restaurant’s kitchen and talked about the cooking lineage he comes from as well as what makes Rocco’s such a great place.

Look out for me on more of Bay Area LIFE every Sunday at 6:30pm on ABC7!

Buster Posey x Body Armor

I’m not a big baseball fan, but sometimes I do interview baseball players… Today I headed into San Francisco to interview World Series Champion of the San Francisco Giants Buster Posey, at a Body Armor Super Drink event being held at Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep, for Bay Area HQ. It was pretty fun as he surprised all the high school kids by popping up at their school for the event.

He talked about sports, being their age and how important it is to stay hydrated and think about nutrition at their age, as well as be physically active. In my interview with him, he was very nice and we reminisced a little about his high school days, who he may offer one of his famous “Buster Hugs” to — specifically which of his fellow Body Armor athletes like James Harden, Klay Thompson, Kobe Bryant, Rob Gronkowski, Richard Sherman, Andrew Luck, etc… and he also revealed he may want to do some acting!! 🙂 Press play below to see my chat with Buster Posey.

Living that Bay Area LIFE

ulta1

I’ve hit the one month mark for being back home in the Bay Area and I’m officially living that “Bay Area LIFE!” There are so many more things I appreciate about this area after being on the East Coast for the last decade, and to now be able to be here with my kids, and put them in a similar environment to what I grew up in is amazing! And — making it even better is having the chance to freelance and continue working in TV on a show called, “Bay Area LIFE.” It is a weekly half hour lifestyle program produced and aired on ABC7 in San Francisco (it just started earlier this year)… and it fits right into my schedule. I’ll be making appearances as a backup host and reporter, so be sure to watch when it airs on Sundays at 6:30pm.

Positive Images for Inner City Youth

positiveimages

Dr. Jaseon Outlaw, is on a mission…to actively change the way inner city youth are often times portrayed in the (mainstream) media, and instead highlight, present and focus on the positive images in the community! I commend his effort and action to create an organization designed to lift, enlighten and create change for the benefit of inner city youth…in his hometown of Oakland, CA!

Positive Images for Inner City Youth is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes.  Seeking 501(c)(3) non-profit organization status,  Positive Images seeks to promote and expose inner city youth to realistic and positive images of those representative of the community.  This is a direct response to the mainstream media’s decision to focus on inner city violence and the psychological implications that reality television has on defining the identities of inner city youth.

The vision for Positive Images is to expand the realm of career and lifestyle choices for inner city youth, by providing a barrage of positive imagery in the areas of career, education, arts, healthy living, and family.

Since “Positive Images” is a brand new endeavor, they need your help to grow the organization and spread the message of positive images! So, if you can, please strongly consider donating a few dollars to the organization http://positiveimagesoakland.org/

And — If you have not already mentored a young person in your community, please do so…

Dubs All Day

I spent part of the 2nd day of 2014 at the HEAT vs. Warriors game at American Airlines Arena.

It’s only once a year (NBA season) when my hometown, Bay Area, Golden State Warriors make it to South Florida, and after many years of struggles and heartache for fans, the team is finally competing (and beating) the competition! Plus, I have to make sure to show some “California Love” …so, it was exciting to see the team in action in Miami and to represent & support a team I grew up watching!

DUBS ALL DAY! I also got to sport a custom shirt design by Tony.psd in the Warriors Blue and Yellow – in fact there were lots of Golden State fans in the crowd Thursday night… so that was fun to see too!!

And — post game my friend Maite and I were invited to check out “HYDE” – the ‘exclusive” court side club, which was nice because I hadn’t been down there yet when it was “club” time… and coincidentally I ran into my friend Jenn, who was visiting Miami from the Bay! Good times!

Gear Up and Represent Bay Area Sports

Fall is here and the NFL football season is in full swing, MLB playoffs are upon us and another NBA season is just around the corner. So if you’re looking to get some gear that’s not your typical “sports” t-shirts and sayings, check out www.tonypsd.bigcartel.com

I’m working with Tony on some new graphics for my newest passion project – look out for that, but in the meantime I wanted to share some of his fun designs reppin’ the Bay! 🙂 I know Oakland A’s fans (old and new) need some fresh gear for the playoffs & SF Giants fans represent for the Sucka Free regardless.

And — some examples of the designs for the Raider Nation and 49er Faithful…

Let’s not forget the Golden State Warriors who are poised for another incredible season or the San Jose Sharks!!

Alright, alright…be sure to check it out!! www.tonypsd.bigcartel.com
