Pro Team Cheer and Dance Audition season is in full swing! It used to start in the spring with NFL, but these days it seems like a year round business, with the ultra competitive NFL Cheerleader tryouts, followed by NBA Dance Team auditions, being the highlight of the “season.”
It’s not uncommon for women to train year round to either keep their spot on a squad, or audition for entry onto one of these prestigious organizations! The key to “joining the club” is to be a great performer with the “total” package, and to be successful you’ve got to have all your bases covered. From dance technique, to audition wear, hair and makeup presentation, speaking skills, fitness and more…it takes a LOT of thought and preparation to BE READY. And — the best way to have you game face ready at tryout time is to take prep classes and/or personalized coaching to put your best foot forward! Many of the teams offer workshops to help candidates prepare, and companies like Going Pro Entertainment, also host prep classes to help these ladies put their best foot forward!

It’s that time again! The Going Pro Expo is making a tour stop in Miami in exactly one month … MARCH 10, 2013!! I am so excited to be coordinating this event for the 3rd year in a row and this time around we’ve changed up the format to appeal to more women looking to “GO PRO” in the dance, cheer and entertainment industry! This year, we truly have an ALL-STAR lineup of choreographers and presenters. On the schedule we have 4 separate “master dance classes” for those of you looking to brush up and/or learn new choreography, all taught by outstanding professionals with NFL, NBA, NHL and collegiate experience. Then we have full workshops and seminars on fitness, pageantry, broadcasting, pro team cheer & dance, etc… We even have a session devoted to social media!
This event is open to women who are alumni, current or aspiring entertainment professionals! The 2012 West Coast Pro Dance Convention in San Jose on Sunday, January 29th was a HUGE success!! The event drew a diverse group of dancers, from retired alumni of the Tennessee Titans, San Francisco 49ers Gold Rush to Washington Redskins, as well as current dance teams members of semi-pro ABA teams & AFL Arena Football, along with aspiring pro team dancers gearing up for the 2012 audition “season!”
We also welcomed a trio of Japanese Cheerleaders who have danced for professional American sports teams, as well as pro teams in Japan!

I just finished editing a short highlight video from the West Coast Dance Convention held at Crunch in Danville this past weekend! It was a great day of choreography and presentations..I know all the women who attended were very thankful and excited to have the opportunity to learn from Pro Alumni and also get the heads up with audition preparation!! 🙂

I am so excited to return home to the Bay Area next weekend, not only am I going to see tons of family and friends, but I am bringing a very exciting event to the area. Many people know I have a background that includes dancing and cheering in the NBA and NFL…it’s something near and dear to my heart. These days, I get sore after an hour or 2 of dance, but I still got it! lol..uh sort of… Anyway, it’s not about me. The event I’m talking about is the Going Pro Entertainment: West Coast Pro Dance Convention which will be held at Crunch in Danville, CA on Saturday, March 12, 2011.
It’s not a competition, it’s not an audition, it’s a fun, all day convention filled with dance choreography taught by Pro Alumni & a fitness boot camp, paired with makeup, hair, interview, attire and photography presentations! The workshop is open to current, pro and aspiring cheerleaders and dancers, and most of the attendees are in the early to mid 20’s, however we have had juniors and seniors in high school attend as well as women in their 30’s. We’re all Alumni from the NFL, NBA, AFL, etc… If you are thinking about auditioning for the San Francisco 49ers Gold Rush, Oakland Raiderettes, Golden State Warriors or Sacramento Kings, etc… this clinic a great starting point! We are a great alternative to a team’s official prep classes for Pro Dance and Cheer auditions because you don’t have to worry about messing up or doing the wrong thing ( we aren’t judging you), and there’s no need to hold back when asking questions. The Pro Cheer and Dance workshops I am coordinating for Going Pro Entertainment are shaping up very nicely and spots are filling up fast!! These “dance conventions” are designed to prepare women who are interested in becoming professional dancers and/or cheerleaders for Pro Teams in the NFL, NBA, AFL, MLB and other sports leagues. All the events are staffed by alumni of their respective dance and cheer teams, and it’s been so exciting for me to build all-star rosters for each of the conventions I am putting together in Miami and the Bay Area…my 2 homes!
First up, the Miami Pro Dance Convention – Sunday, February 27, 2011 at FitSource in North Miami. The NFL’s Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders auditions are coming up on April 30, 2011. Just as I am organizing the Miami Pro Dance Convention on Sunday, Feb 27, I am also coordinating another event in my hometown Bay Area on Saturday, March 12 for Going Pro Entertainment! The event is designed for current, former or prospective professional dancers and cheerleaders, as well as team’s who need fresh choreography. It’s also a great networking opportunity to meet others in the industry and hear about other auditions!
The March 12 event will be held at CRUNCH in Danville, CA and we have separate AM and PM sessions, with different choreography, so stay the whole day if you like! In addition to myself, the all-star lineup of alumni (so far) includes choreographers:
