Eat Burritos and Lose Fat

Do I have your attention? When I first met my buddy Ranbir, we were both the talent on set for VISA commercial, well he was the star and I had a smaller role. Now, a lot of times when you’re on these sets, you have some downtime …and once we started chatting, I found out we were both from the same part of San Jose, and that he runs a successful gym and professional coaching business..when he’s not acting!

Now that I’ve gotten to know him better, I also discovered he has some great real-world practical advice when it comes to fitness, losing weight and staying healthy. I love his approach and the way he breaks down the facts about calorie intake and how it directly correlates with your fitness and weight goals. I personally, recognize that my penchant for cookies, cake and ice cream do hinder my weight goals. I know I gotta get the food part right!

One of my favorite diet plans that he preaches is losing weight while eating burritos. Burritos aren’t the first thing that come to mind when you think healthy eating, but he’s done it and it works. It’s all on the approach and yes, you still have to be accountable, as long as you understand the “science” behind it.

Anyway, check out this interview I did with Ranbir, where he gives me more insight and his perspective on healthy weight loss with burritos!

Spotted on the Small Screen

Sometimes I do a little lifestyle modeling (acting), and a new spot just came out that I did for Fitbit’s new Inspire. See if you can find me in the clip below!

Some of the still images for the campaign should be coming out in stores soon.

Warriors “Get Fit” Event

I recently got a chance to host an event with the Golden State Warriors.

The event was part of the Warriors “Back-to-School in the Bay” campaign, and in partnership with Kaiser Permanente they hosted the Get Fit Time-Out event at Willie L. Brown Jr. Middle School in San Francisco’s Bayview neighborhood. The event was aimed toward promoting the importance of physical activity, mindfulness and good nutrition.

Golden State Warriors Damian Jones joined us for the fun event and did a Q&A with me to let the kids know about his fitness and eating habits, before interacting with students from the Beacon after school program. Students were then treated to an interactive education session focused on eating nutritious foods, exercising daily and training the mind to be resilient.

There were 3 activity stations, including an instructional basketball clinic, nutrition lesson and mindfulness workshop.

All in all, the events was so much fun and I can’t wait to work with the Dubs again!

Audition Season

Pro Team Cheer and Dance Audition season is in full swing! It used to start in the spring with NFL, but these days it seems like a year round business, with the ultra competitive NFL Cheerleader tryouts, followed by NBA Dance Team auditions, being the highlight of the “season.”

It’s not uncommon for women to train year round to either keep their spot on a squad, or audition for entry onto one of these prestigious organizations! The key to “joining the club” is to be a great performer with the “total” package, and to be successful you’ve got to have all your bases covered. From dance technique, to audition wear, hair and makeup presentation, speaking skills, fitness and more…it takes a LOT of thought and preparation to BE READY. And — the best way to have you game face ready at tryout time is to take prep classes and/or personalized coaching to put your best foot forward! Many of the teams offer workshops to help candidates prepare, and companies like Going Pro Entertainment, also host prep classes to help these ladies put their best foot forward!

It’s the first of 3 planned locations and it’s a gym, just for…WOMEN! It’s co-owned by two lovely ladies, Yamin Meneses and Cynthia Alonso. It is SO WONDERFUL to meet and work with other females who are doing their thing!

Ki-Hara

Check out this workout! It’s called Ki-Hara resistance training… Basically you are strapped down to a board while a trainer will stretch you out and you resist. It’s a true worout that works flexibility, strength and helps your core too. FYI…that was REAL pain for me…I’m terrible at stretching and I think the trainer was really trying to giv eme a proper workout! ha
