Going Pro – Bay Area

I just finished editing a short highlight video from the West Coast Dance Convention held at Crunch in Danville this past weekend! It was a great day of choreography and presentations..I know all the women who attended were very thankful and excited to have the opportunity to learn from Pro Alumni and also get the heads up with audition preparation!! πŸ™‚

We had a great “crew” Pictured below (l-r) Jada, Robin, Cole, Me and Erin. Alumni Pro’s Laura and Patty (not pictured) also stopped in to offer great tips and advice.

And — here’s a slideshow of photos!!

Thanks to all our participants, Current, Alumni and Aspiring!! Keep checking http://goingproentertainment.com for info on all our events around the country and stay tuned as I gear up for summer worksops! GPE consultants are available for one on one sessions as well.

West Coast Pro Dance Convention

I am so excited to return home to the Bay Area next weekend, not only am I going to see tons of family and friends, but I am bringing a very exciting event to the area. Many people know I have a background that includes dancing and cheering in the NBA and NFL…it’s something near and dear to my heart. These days, I get sore after an hour or 2 of dance, but I still got it! lol..uh sort of… Anyway, it’s not about me. The event I’m talking about is the Going Pro Entertainment: West Coast Pro Dance Convention which will be held at Crunch in Danville, CA on Saturday, March 12, 2011.

West Coast flyer

It’s not a competition, it’s not an audition, it’s a fun, all day convention filled with dance choreography taught by Pro Alumni & a fitness boot camp, paired with makeup, hair, interview, attire and photography presentations! The workshop is open to current, pro and aspiring cheerleaders and dancers, and most of the attendees are in the early to mid 20’s, however we have had juniors and seniors in high school attend as well as women in their 30’s. We’re all Alumni from the NFL, NBA, AFL, etc… If you are thinking about auditioning for the San Francisco 49ers Gold Rush, Oakland Raiderettes, Golden State Warriors or Sacramento Kings, etc… this clinic a great starting point! We are a great alternative to a team’s official prep classes for Pro Dance and Cheer auditions because you don’t have to worry about messing up or doing the wrong thing ( we aren’t judging you), and there’s no need to hold back when asking questions. Our focus is to get you prepared and ready to have the best audition of your life…we are here to help!! So sign up today >>> Registration & info for the (Bay Area) event is at http://westcoastprodance.eventbrite.com/

AND — just to give you a taste of what people can expect…here are some photos and video highlights from my super successful Miami event!! We had great dancers, current and alumni Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders, alumni Miami HEAT dancers and I’m sure there were at least a few future Pro’s in the mix! πŸ˜‰

MIAMI – Pro Cheer and Dance Workshop

I am often asked and approached by women who are interested in joining the ranks of “pro” cheerleaders and dancers in the NFL and NBA. The problem is there aren’t always a lot of resources around to accurately prepare a candidate for the audition process, not to mention the choreography style, hair/makeup, fitness, attire and the interview process that are also a part of the road to Going Pro!

So, I am excited to announce that I am coordinating a “Miami Pro Dance Convention” for Going Pro Entertainment! The event takes place Sunday, February 27, 2011 at FitSource in North Miami. The are 2 separate sessions, AM and PM…and each has its own unique routines and presenters. I have some amazing choreographers and presenters on deck for the event and I know it’ll be a huge success. The agenda includes NFL and NBA style choreography, informative Q&A, as well as gift bags! πŸ˜‰

OTF: Where BROOKLYN at??

I finally finished editing a new episode of On The Flipside!! I shot the intros and wraps on location during a trip to NYC a few weeks back. I’ve definitely been bogged down with other projects and priorities, but I didn’t want to neglect my passion project too much. I’m trying to at least do 1 a month depending on what I have going on!! Anyway, this new show features an exclusive with NBA star turned rapper, the LA Lakers Ron Artest, performing in Hollywood at Highlands Club with the Slam Girls. I also catch up with (my favorite) the Oakland Raiderettes for their annual calendar release party, then there’s highlights from retired NFL player Fred Taylor’s foundation launch event and an interview with Olympic Gymnast Nastia Liukin about her new “Super Girl” clothing line at JC Penney! Be sure to TUNE IN!! http://ontheflipsidetv.com

Special thanks to One9 for his help with this episode!!

2010 NBA FINALS

The 2010 NBA Finals tip off in just 2 more days!! I can’t wait…I’m so excited my team, the BOSTON CELTICS, are back in it and ready to throw down the “upset” once again in this classic battle with the LA Lakers.

**Note: This picture is actually from the 2008 Championship run**

It’s no secret that I am NOT a Lakers fan…haha! I guess I’d be what people refer to as a “Laker Hater.” First off, I am from the Bay Area and that’s Northern California…so we’re not too much keen on things SoCal! lol Anyway, I grew up in a family that loves, loves, LOVES watching NBA games, so that’s what we did growing up. And while we support our NorCal Teams (Warriors and Kings), my Dad was a Larry Bird fan, so in those legendary Finals face-offs, we pulled for the Celtics! And so, that has always been that “thing” between me and my Dad…and when it’s playoffs we usually talk before every game, looking forward to seeing the Celtics win!

On The Flipside in Central Park!

While I was in NYC last week, I took the opportunity to use Central Park as my backdrop for a new episode of On The Flipside! I’ve taken a 2 month break from producing new episodes, but I finally managed to crank one out…#22! And in the midst of losing my hard drive, I had to re-edit 2 of these segments which were already done, and re-upload all the graphics, etc.. to get this show done..BUT MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

This episode features Common who’s the leading man in new movie “Just Wright,” which opens up today. There are a bunch of NBA cameo’s in the film, including Dwyane Wade, Dwight Howard, Rashard Lewis, Jalen Rose and ESPN personality Stuart Scott…so of course I had to post the interviews! Then I included a feature segment on the Orlando Magic’s Matt Barnes, another on the Buffalo Bills Aaron Maybin and this show’s sideline distraction is Tamae Ishii! Take 10 minutes to tune in!! http://ontheflipsidetv.com

NBA All-Star Show

I just put the newest episode of On The Flipside online… It’s the Dallas – NBA All Star show shot on location in Downtown Dallas! This episode features behind the scenes action from Miami HEAT Dwyane Wade’s Jordan Brand “Nightmares Never Sleep” commercial featuring the Air Jordan 2010 AND it also goes behind the scenes for LA Lakers Lamar Odom’s Power Bar Energy Bursts commercial. Zo’s King Pin Classic and Minnesota Timberwolves dancer Heather are also featured on this show! For more On The Flipside visit http://ontheflipsidetv.com
