Flavor Battle

My good friend and a Miami FAVORITE – DJ Irie is competing in the McDonald’s Flavor Battle! Who knew the “golden arches” were so down for an element of hip-hop!?!? The national DJ competition has Irie facing off against the legendary Salt-N-Pepa DJ, Spinderella and songwriter/producer Bryan-Michael Cox.

In this “spin off,” each DJ is reppin’ their own Mickey D’s burger, the Third Pound Angus (Irie), Big Mac (Spin) and the Double Quarter Pounder w/Cheese (B. Cox), and then people can vote for each DJ based on their old-school, new-school and R&B mixes.

The competition is now winding down in its final two weeks…so make sure to VOTE VOTE VOTE!!! http://365black.com Personally I think the Third Pound Angus burger is the way to go…I’m just sayin’!! 🙂 “FLAVOR BATTLE” anybody?? I hope IRIE wins…maybe that’ll mean free burgers FOR LIFE!! lol …writing this is making me HUNGRY!!

Pacquiao on Kimmel

I was completely entertained when I watched the youtube videos of Manny Pacquiao on Jimmy Kimmel from last night’s show! I mean he is just “SO FILIPINO” …and I don’t mean that in a bad way because that is my heritage, but this guy is an UBER STAR in boxing and of course in the Philippines, but he’s pretty non-chalant and sort of seems oblivious to his celebrity! But getting back to the “SO FILIPINO” part…singing – Filipino’s LOVE to sing and dance, the stereotype is karaoke at family parties and having a magic mic! In Manila there are stages for singing and dancing at the malls and many public places, variety shows on the weekend (the Filipino versions of Sabado Gigante) and have you ever watched MTV’s America’s BEST Dance crew!?!? Up until the last season most of the crews had at least one, if not majority Fil-Am’s dancing with them. So to see Manny singing on national (late night) TV …it’s just funny to me! The song he picked too…lol

Seriously, Pacman seems SO amused to be on the show, and I wasn’t sure if Kimmel was just catching him off guard with questions or if he was just excited to be on American TV…just listen to him laugh, very cute! At any rate, come November 14 ….GO PACQUIAO!! Once he gets past Cotto…I’m hopeful for the eventual fight we all want to see – Pacquiao vs. Mayweather!!

Melanie Fiona

I had the pleasure of meeting the beautiful and talented, Universal Motown artist Melanie Fiona at a private dinner last Friday night. I was supposed to interview her earlier in the day, but it didn’t quite work out, so I guess dinner at Philippe’s was a nice consolation! 😀 Actually it was a very nice intimate dinner with just about 20 people or so…”industry” folks. She is gorgeous in person and incredibly sweet…plus I’m always extra impressed when people remember my name.

Her debut album The Bridge has already been released electronically…so go get it!

The lovely Miss Fiona also did an impromptu performance during dinner…so I caught a snippet on my camera, but since it was dark, I had to edit pictures over it…her voice though…WOW!!
