50 Years of Raiderettes

I recently celebrated 50 years of Oakland (and LA) Raiderettes with a few hundred of my “Football’s Fabulous Females” sisters, who have also been honored to hold the Raiderette title! The 2012 Raiderette Reunion started off with a dinner at the Eastside Club at the Coliseum…

On display were the various uniforms and costumes donned by the Raiderettes over the years…

The next day after we gathered at the Raider facility to “practice” for our anniversary halftime show! We had all received a video link prior to the reunion weekend, to learn our respective routines…since we were celebrating 50 years, they divided us into 5 decades, and you learned the routine that corresponded with the decade you became a Raiderette! So the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and (my group) 2000’s!! It was the first time we got together for a dance rehearsal with everyone. Ah, what a reminder of the hard work it takes to be a Raiderette!!!

We also received these beautiful medallions to mark the 50 year celebration!

Finally our reunion weekend culminated with a spectacular halftime performance at the Oakland Coliseum where the Raiders hosted the Jacksonville Jaguars!! Lots of fun and reminiscent of old times…starting with a bus ride together to the stadium.

Then of course GAME TIME!!

And — it’s great to dance alongside with the current squad and to see what a GREAT job these ladies are doing to carry on the Raiderette tradition!!

I don’t have the final number of how many alumni turned out to attend the weekend, but at least 300+…and I imagine if each and every former Raiderette was able to be there, the number would be more like 500…that’s a lot of Raiderettes!! πŸ™‚

Finally, what would a performance be without the VIDEO…haha! You can actually see me in the clip below…I danced on the 25 yard line, closer to the north end zone, then in end zone (near the “K”) during the finale!!

Once a Raiderette, ALWAYS a Raiderette!! πŸ˜‰

Love Language

I just finished reading “The 5 Love Languages.” This book is SO insightful and it’s given me new energy!!!

I had heard so much about this book and after a few friends (who have read it) recommended it to me, I decided to pick it up. WOW! First off, it’s an easy read and I immediately started seeing myself in the characters and stories told in the book. Second, it really began to open my eyes and reinforce the notion that how we GIVE love and how we want to RECEIVE it are usually the same, but the person we may be giving it to and how they return their love to us, are often times a different “language.”

I’m also excited to DISCOVER and KNOW my language(s). The book gives you the framework to determine which language will speak love to you, and I think in understanding yourself, it’s easier to communicate your needs. And then of course, if you can discover and know which language(s) will speak loudest to a loved one, it gives you the power to love them the way they want and NEED to be loved!

There’s also a cool online tool to help you determine your “love language.” Visit www.5lovelanguages.com

So what’s your LOVE language??

* Words of Affirmation
* Quality Time
* Receiving Gifts
* Acts of Service
* Physical Touch

Jay Z takes NYC Subway Train

I love this!! Jay Z aka Jigga took the NYC Subway “R” Train to the brand new Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn for his final show there. Either he’s had it with gas prices, is going green or maybe he didn’t want to deal with traffic! j/k…ha! Seriously, I respect that he isn’t “too cool” to hop on the Subway and it just goes to show that EVERYONE can use public transportation… Although it’s obviously not the “safest” thing since he attracts so much attention and people get all “paparazzi” and lose their minds!! Check it in the video…

PushPage

My “PushPage” is LIVE and online!!! πŸ™‚ What is a PushPage?? Well, it’s a brand new social media “thing” and I’m so lucky to have been asked to be part of this start-up opportunity. It’s a “web/mobile technology that allows influencers to engage with their fans in an intimate way through personal Q&A…”

Here’s a screen shot snippet of my “verified” page, and feel free to check it out >>> http://pushpage.me/aubreyaquino

So far I believe there’s only a very small number of people that have the “honor” of having a push page for the launch, and I’m in good company…other (select) peeps with a page include Kim K, Emma Stone, Russell Brand, Tory Burch, Blake Griffin, Adele, J.K. Rowling, Serena Williams, etc…

At any rate, every week I’ll be adding more Q&A and if you have a burning question, feel free to submit it and you might just get your answer! Just PUSH IT! πŸ˜‰
