The good folks at PNOY Apparel have developed and are releasing a very special jacket called “The Veterano.” I applaud their dedication and commitment to not only educate, pay tribute and honor the heroes of our (Filipino) heritage, but they also give back! Bravo… Both my grandfathers were among the 250,000 Philippine soldiers who marched and fought alongside the Americans against the Japanese during WWII, so although gone, they are not forgotten.
The Veterano jacket by PNOY Apparel is honoring the 250,000 Filipino American veterans who fought side by side their American counterparts without compensation or recognition. ONLY after almost 70 years, the Stimulus Plan hands out $15K to those who became U.S. Citizens and $9K to non-citizens veterans for their duty, a small reward for a life’s worth.
PNOY Apparel wants to help with proceeds of The Veterano to be donated to JFAV (Justice for Filipino American Veterans) to help our dying heroes.

I hit the red carpet at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino this past weekend for The Summer Groove “Comedy Jam.”
The annual event is hosted by Alonzo Mourning and Dwyane Wade…
DWade hit the carpet with Gaby Union … a first public appearance as a couple!
*Note I was the first to “tweet” it!
AND – Boston Celtic Rajon Rondo came through for his very first “Summer Groove!”
The Comedy Jam is highlighted by a who’s who list of comedians…here’s a shot of Gary Owen who made a back to back appearance coming off his performance from last year’s event.
Look out for all the video highlights and interviews coming soon On The Flipside!
This past weekend I served as a host for the Red Bull Flugtag event in Miami. FYI…”Flugtag” is German for “Flight Day.”
A MASSIVE EVENT!!
It was an all-day affair where we hosted a LIVE TV broadcast on screens all over the park, along with Dan Levy (pictured), Tina Dixon and Uncle E. I think it’ll end up on FSN at some point this fall.
It was the 2010 kick off for a 4 city U.S. – tour of the annual festival where teams compete by creating different and sometimes wacky “flight” craft to launch from a flight deck!
It was crazy HOT in downtown Miami at Bayfront Park and the crowd was estimated somewhere between 85k to 100k between folks in the park and boaters in the water!
DJ Irie was a judge for the day…
Also interviewed Motocross Champ James Stewart!
LOTS OF FUN…IN THE SUPER HOT SUN!
Check out this video with some of the flight craft highlights!
WOW! Dwyane Wade is staying, Chris Bosh has arrived and LeBron James is on his way! Who would’ve ever predicted a year ago that these 3 All-Stars would be playing for the Miami HEAT!?
While Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade had made their Miami announcement yesterday…I wasn’t convinced LBJ would be joining them. I guess in my heart (and being an NBA fan,) I couldn’t help but think LeBron in NYC was best for the game…plus I like the Knicks coaching staff (PHX alums) – BUT I am happy he’s in Miami and going to play for the HEAT!
I drove by the American Airlines Arena shortly after the announcement where fans were honking and celebrating in the streets…they also had the ESPN special airing on the gigantic mesh screen on the front of the arena… The news vans were stacked up along Biscayne BLVD and there is a vibe of new life in the Magic City air!
So, it seems South Beach will now be HOTTER than ever..and maybe I gotta figure out a way to stay…honestly I had felt like I had outgrown Miami, but this is incentive to try and grow my role with the HEAT and HEAT TV. Regardless, expect to see me and my boy Burnie in the stands come game time!
The Philippines welcomed a new President today with the inauguration of Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III at Malacañang Palace. Noynoy is my Uncle. His father Ninoy Aquino Jr. – who was assassinated in August 1983, is first cousins with my grandfather, Claudio Aquino. The Aquino’s are leading the country once again as Noynoy follows in his late mother Cory’s footsteps as President of the Philippines…and he carries on the dream of my Lolo Ninoy to serve his people because in Lolo Ninoy’s words, “The Filipino is worth dying for.”
All that being said, it was a big, exciting day for my relatives in Manila to watch history in the making and attend today’s event …
Here are a few more photos they took at the inauguration.
On The Flipside is back with Episode #23! On this show, I used the Miami Beach Marina as the backdrop ant went fishing with a bunch of Miami Dolphins rookies, talk to Danica Patrick about the new racing video game Blur, hit the beach with Sweethearts for Soldiers and have all the highlights from Jason Taylor’s Celebrity Golf Classic dinner event at Martorano’s! A few of my favorite guys, who also happen to make up the uber talented music producing trio, The Stereotypes, are featured in the latest issue of Billboard Magazine (Miley Cyrus cover), as part of the 10 Songwriters and Producers to watch!
Congratulations to Jonstreet, Jermbeats and Rayro! I’m so glad they’re getting some well-deserved recognition for their work. You may recognize their music with hits like Danity Kane’s “Damaged” to Neyo’s “Why Does She Stay” and Mary J. Blige feat. T.I. on “Good Love.” It just goes to show that if you stay true to your passion and keep on your grind…anything is possible.
