Why Did I get Married Too?

I had the pleasure of traveling to the Bahamas for the Bahamian red carpet and first international premiere of “Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Too?” I shared some of my photos and talked about the trip in an earlier blog Eleuthera and in this post I’m sharing my red carpet interviews with Tyler Perry, Sharon Leal and Michael Jai White. I didn’t go all out with these edits, but I still wanted to share what they had to say about filming in Eleuthera and the movie itself.

First up, Tyler Perry explains why he chose Eleuthera as a location…

And Michael Jai White talks about what it was like to film in the Bahamas and what it’s like to play Tasha Smith’s husband!

Finally, Sharon Leal shares how she feels about the Bahamas premiere and her experience shooting there.

Following the red carpet at Atlantis on Paradise Island, we all got to sit down for the Bahamian premiere of the film. The black tie event was well-attended and the theater was packed! Unfortunately for me though, it was a little on the cold side and the seating they had for media was uncomfortable..so not sure if that weighed on my feelings for the movie or not. Obviously the scenery in the film where the tropical beaches are the backdrop are gorgeous and tranquil, and it’s a little more exciting that I can say I’ve visited the actual place where it was shot! On the other hand, I think I liked the first one better, this one just seemed abrupt at times and the characters had changed so much from the previous movie…it just didn’t flow as well as I’d have liked! That being said, I’ll have to watch it again when I’m not in my dress and can focus better. Don’t get me wrong, it is a good story with lessons to be learned…I mean let’s be real, relationship topics can go on and on! The film does have great moments and Tasha Smith pretty much steals every scene she’s in! I found myself thinking..I’m not that bad, am I!?!? haha

Eleuthera

I just came off a fun 48 hour trip to the Bahamas! The purpose of this trip was to do press for Tyler Perry’s new film “Why Did I Get Married Too?” A portion of the movie was shot on location on the Bahamian Island of Eleuthera, so we had an excursion to that island and see the “set” where they filmed. Meanwhile, we stayed in Nassau and capped the trip with the red carpet premiere at Atlantis on Paradise Island.

I arrived early Sunday morning with my cap low, sporting the “Bow Down”  Tee…

For dinner we went to the ONLY 5-star restaurant in Nassau – Graycliff’s…where they also house the 3rd largest wine cellar in the world! They had a huge stash of Cuban cigars too!

The next morning I woke up at the rack of dawn to catch the charter flight to Eleuthera, to visit the movie site… so BEAUTIFUL and SERENE!

I learned that the Bahamas is proud to boast it not only has the clearest waters in the entire Caribbean, but it’s H2O is tops in the world!

After lunch we headed back to Nassau for a press conference with Tyler Perry and Bahamian Officials.

A couple stars of the new film, Sharon Leal and Michael Jai White, were also on hand.

Then it was finally time to get all jazzed up for the red carpet premiere, and I had a new dress to wear, courtesy of my good friend Grace!

And — I ran into an old buddy from the Bay, Miss Wynter who I used to work with back in the day at Tech TV…so we had to snap a shot…(l-r) that’s Amber, Wynter and yours truly!

It was a nice (quick) getaway and be sure to check back here on my blog, as I will be posting the red carpet interviews and give my review of “Why Did I Get Married Too?” which opens this Friday!

Welcome Channel “Sports”

One of the outlets I produce and host for is called The Welcome Channel, and their programming runs in thousands of hotel rooms in South Florida on a loop so look for it next time you visit! Here’s a look at a couple of the segments I put together for them on the Miami HEAT and Florida Marlins!

I’m going to Indiana…

Okay so I already went to Indiana… I recently visited the University of Indiana-Bloomington to speak at the MAFA Conference, and they were happy to help me shoot the standups for my latest episode!! On this show, On The Flipside is on campus (freezing) and features NFL Tight End Daniel Wilcox, the beautiful Miss Anjelah Johnson on set for her new movie Our Family Wedding, the 2010 NFL Pro Bowl Cheerleaders in “Battle of the Beauties” and the Miami Dolphins Jason Taylor. Check it out On The Flipside!!

Margie’s LA in MIA Birthday

I had a great “girl’s weekend” with my crew from LA (technically they originally from the Bay, but reside in LA now)! The ladies came to celebrate Margie’s birthday and we had a blast!! Night one, we started off at the Sunset Lounge at the Mondrian Hotel.

….there we enjoyed this uber *EXCLUSIVE* Russian vodka! lol

And then we headed out to “PLAY” for some late night dancing with the 400 Club….

**note – we don’t know the guy in the above picture! lol BUT – we do know the ones in this pic…

Round 2 – the next night we did Margie’s birthday dinner at Prime 112…

…and snapped a picture with the one and only Myles!

We finally capped our night by going to The Florida Room at the Delano.

GREAT weekend, with lots of good times once again…I just won’t mention how I locked myself out the house and had to call a locksmith or when my truck got towed since I parked in a no parking zone! oops…I just did! haha Love my girls, can’t wait to do it again, I’ll have to come see ya in la la land next time!

A big THANKS to Chad and Matt of Carma PR for setting us up…luv you guys!!

Aubrey Does Dallas

I ventured to the Lone Star State last week for a couple reasons… #1 – visit my good friends Bec and Skip and their twins in their Dallas home (that I have failed to see since they moved there!) AND #2 – attend a few NBA All-Star events.

My first day in town it SNOWED and SNOWED…so, the babies took the opportunity to make me their snowball target!! I mean really, who taught them to do this? It’s okay, I know it’s because I’m their favorite Auntie!!

Thursday was just TOO snowy, but Friday we did manage to head out to the Lift Lounge and hang out…

I also ran into my girl Sonya from AZ and her crew. (Katie, Megan and Jennifer on my right)

Saturday afternoon I shot my All-Star show intros for On The Flipside (look out for the new episode) and that night attended the NBPA Gala.

Come Sunday it was time for the NBA All-Star game at the GINORMOUS Cowboys Stadium! The place is HUGE…and that screen is mind-blowing. I mean even if you’re there, you can’t really watch the game because you’ll just keep staring at the HD screen!

However, despite the freezing temps, massive crowds and traffic, at least I can say I’ve been there and was part of the history making 108k+ fans in attendance.

Lucky me I was treated to a seat in one of the luxury boxes…thanks Bec and Skip!

The game was great fun and a clear view of the halftime show featuring Shakira and Alicia Keys wasn’t bad either!!

On The Flipside turns ONE

My labor of love On The Flipside turns ONE with the Super Bowl – Ocean Drive episode! I started this journey about a year ago, deciding to do a show that I’ve always wanted to do, but didn’t exist and here it is one year later after the debut Tampa show from the 2009 Super Bowl to 2010 on Ocean Drive. This edition has got it all with celebs from sports and entertainment, attending the hottest Super Bowl parties, walking the red carpet and partying it up by the pool..and make sure you watch it all the way through to see the 26 Pro Bowl Cheerleaders in an ultra sexy fashion show at the W Hotel in South Beach! See more episodes at http://ontheflipsidetv.com

Pro Bowl – Miami

The NFL Pro Bowl is taking place in Miami for the first time ever, before a Super Bowl – it’s traditionally been held in Honolulu for the past 30 consecutive seasons the weekend after the NFL Championship game! So, since it’s in my backyard, I’ve been hustlin’ On The Flipside and hanging out with my girls! The first (Pro Bowl) event I attended was a Pro Bowl Cheerleader fashion show at the W Hotel on South Beach…featuring one lady from each of the 26 teams with “cheerleaders.”

This year 2 ladies I’ve danced with in the past are reppin’ their teams for the Pro Bowl. Amy from the San Francisco 49ers Gold Rush (we actually were teammates on the Arizona Cardinals Cheerleaders). Also pictured is current Miami Dolphins Cheerleader Johanna who was helping me cover the event!

Raiderette Cole was selected to represent the Oakland Raiders. Cole and I were rookies together once upon a time…. 🙂

dscf4907

My good friend/former ten-time Raiderette Jeanette, now Raiders.com correspondent, joined me at the “Battle of the Beauties” event in Fort Lauderdale…another one of our Raiderette sisters, Rebeca, also hung out with us to support our girl Cole!

dscf4902

The “Battle of the Beauties” event featured the Pro Bowl Cheerleaders in an AFC vs. NFC battle playing Beach Volleyball, Tug of War and Flag Football…

Time for a little “Step and Repeat”

Saturday night, Brewer Sports Int’l hosted a fashion show at the Mondrian Hotel featuring NFL players, and they threw in some swimsuit models for added sexy? Hey…that’s how we do it in Miami! lol

dscf4933

Among the models taking to the runway were retired NFL player Will Demps and current Dallas Cowboys Running Back Marion Barber…

dscf4932 dscf4928

It was a fun night out for me and the ladies…Rene, Me, Jeanette and Dara!

Amara also made a cameo appearance!

Good times…time to get ready for the game tonight, then a full week of SUPER BOWL craziness!
