When in Rome…

I LOVED this movie! So cute, original and refreshing – a totally new approach to the ‘romantic comedy’ genre!! Kristen Bell plays the career-oriented single gal who’s had her heart broken too many times and is starting to give up on the idea of “LOVE.” Ladies..I know ya’ll feel me on that! Anyway, her “luck” takes an interesting turn when she goes to Rome for her sister’s wedding and the story unfolds from there. This film has humor, charm, wit and it’s just fun! It stays away from the typical and injects other true to life scenario’s and events, so you can’t help but to smile! 🙂 BTW, Josh Duhamel is looking very cute  as her love interest in the movie as well… But yes, WATCH THIS, it’s not just for the ladies!! The only thing I wasn’t too keen on is the film’s title…but I enjoyed it so much, they can call it what they want!

AND — while watching, I couldn’t help but reminisce about when I was in Rome 3 years ago with my sisters…

They LOVED me and the sisters in Rome…the pizza-makers surprised us with “special” heart-shaped pizzas! Ahhh, the memories…of LUV!!

Bay Holiday 09

I decided to make a last minute trip to the Bay for Christmas to see the fam!

Always great to see my sisters Ade and Al…

…and of course my brother Adam who loves to get his “thizz” face on!

I also got to meet up with my girls and go to a cool lounge/restaurant spot in Oakland called MUA…

LOVED this Mussels dish with fries and aoili!!

I also stepped out in the Sucka Free to make a quick “appearance” at Atmosphere with Lucena

And what trip would be complete without going to a Warriors game…me and my sisters checked out Golden State taking on Boston Celtics…and of course me being there got them a W! lol

NYC

I spent the last week in NYC – part business, always pleasure and of course it was 100% hustle. I stayed with my good friend and Raiderette sister Tamae, who’s a high fashion designer – for Ishii NYC,  living on the Upper East Side with his Persian Cats and a long-hair chihuahua named Dauphine, nicknamed “Fatty” ..she weighs a whole 3 pounds and has more than 50 doggy couture outfits! lol

The day I arrived it was rainy, and everyone was saying it just got cold, but PLEASE, with my thin blood, anything under 70 is “ice cubes!” haha Nonetheless, I met up with my cousin Gemmie who was in NYC visiting from ATL, and then Tamae took me to Max Brenner Chocolate for some really tasty hot chocolate. On Sunday, we ventured out to a NY Knicks game at MSG…my first time there EVER! It was a lot smaller than I expected, but definitely a packed house with loyal fans…and they won!

…and we had great seats..right behind the visitor’s bench..happened to be the NJ Nets that day!

That night we had dinner at TAO with a friend from the Daily News, and feasted on a decadent dessert platter!

Monday I met up with my artist VADO in Harlem for his photo shoot!

Thanks to Ivan, Abby, Manda and Natalie…lots of different looks, it was good times!!

Betweeen Monday and Tuesday I was running around shooting segments for On The Flipside and Locker Blogger, went by the CAVI NYC office and also visited with the Stereotypes who were in town recording….then Tuesday night Anjelah Johnson flew in, so we had to meet up too!

Last but not least, I can’t forget the cupcakes! Tamae insisted I have these before I go… and man were they YUMMY!!

The Welcome Channel

One of my new gigs is hosting and producing segments for The Welcome Channel – Miami & the Beaches. The Welcome Channel is Miami and the Beaches premiere visitor in-room programming. It is currently in 27 (South Florida) hotels – including the Fontainebleau, Westin Diplomat, Loews and Trump International, showing in more than 10,500 rooms. It’s that channel that loops 24 hours a day, 7 days per week to highlight the very best of Miami and the Beaches has to offer when it comes to dining, shopping, entertainment, arts, cultural attractions. My first project was to create programming surrounding 3 of the major sports teams in the area, so HEAT, Dolphins and Marlins. I’ll be continuously contributing new features for The Welcome Channel…so make sure to tune in!

Couples Retreat

I checked out an early screening of “Couples Retreat” yesterday evening. The movie is a funny one, but it wasn’t as good as I had hoped…you know, one of those films where the preview looks REALLY GOOD…but (I think) they already showed all of the funniest stuff in the trailer!! Among the all-star cast, Vince Vaughn brings his usual charisma and fast-paced, quick-lipped style of humor, while Faison Love let loose his “Big Boy” or should I say “Baby Boy” jokes! Meanwhile, I just sat back and enjoyed the awesome, tropical Tahitian backdrop!! Bora Bora is SO on my “places to visit one day” list! Kristen Bell, Kristin Davis and Jason Bateman all hold it down for their respective characters….also, Tasha Smith – who we’re used to seeing in sassy roles in Tyler Perry films – makes an appearance, minus her usual “attitude!” The yoga “hunk” scenes are hilarious, just because dude is so “Fabio” and wearing his itty bitty speed-o’s!! I think the movie also offered some thoughtful insight into being married and the challenges couples go through, poking fun, using stereotypes and relatable situations. I would say this is boderline theater vs. DVD…it’s not a waste to see it in the theater, but you could wait for the DVD.

Salt Lake City

I recently took a quick trip to Salt Lake City, Utah and shot the latest episode of On The Flipside at Sandbar!! Check it out…there’s an interview with the one and only LBJ about his new movie “More Than a Game” as well as all the highlights from Jason Taylor’s “Cool Gear for the School year” charity event at Old Navy, also seen on the scene were his teammates Greg Camarillo, Joey Porter and Akin Ayodele, as well as the Dolphins Cheerleaders, Miami HEAT Udonis Haslem, James Jones and alum Alonzo Mourning ..even rappers Rick Ross and Trina took time out to take part in the festivities! This episode also features Miss Florida USA 2010 Megan Clementi who is also a former Orlando Magic Dunking Dancer and retired NFL kicker Morten Andersen with the Garia Golf Car!

NFL Cheerleaders Calendars

I just posted a brand new SPECIAL, EXCLUSIVE “NFL CHEERLEADERS CALENDARS” edition of On The Flipside! Of course I always have to pay homage to my “former” life, but really I just think pro team dancers and cheerleaders are amazing women who get to do some fun stuff. Back “in my day” we didn’t have so much travel and opportunity…it was still fun and worth it, but these days the ladies are treated to a bit more! Anyway, enjoy the episode featuring Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders, Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and my beloved Oakland Raiderettes!

Vegas Baby

I took a quick weekend trip to Vegas to help celebrate a couple Raiderette birthday’s (Michelle and Nesha), so you know it turned into an unofficial Raiderette reunion!


First order of the day Diddy’s Ciroc Pool Party at Wet Republic…very HOT!!


Then, off to PURE to dance and party the night away with all the girls!

Check out Nesha’s Birthday cake, courtesy of her hubby…I never even got to eat a piece, but it looked good!

The trip was short and sweet with beautiful memories to last a lifetime!
