indiDenim

Everyone knows I’m a “jeans and a top” kind of gal… So when my good friend Mo told me about this custom fit online jean retailer that even allows you to pick and choose every detail of the pant, I had to check it out! It’s very cool and reasonably priced (comprable to what you’d pay in a major dept. store), it’s sort of fun to be able to put eveyrthing you like into the “perfect pair!” For example, I prefer dark denim with a low rise (I feel short-waisted) and bootcut, cuz my calves need the room! I’m sure it’s especially helpful for chicas with length issues or shapes that don’t fit the cookie cutter! All you have to do is enter your waist measurement (around the belly button) and they calculate the rest based on your height, weight, etc… AND – I found it amusing when I had to answer questions about how flat my stomach is or how much my booty sticks out! lol But, you gotta be honest so that they can make sure your jeans fit!! Organic Eco Chic

Popular fashion labels like Victoria’s Secret “PINK” and Sanctuary are offering “organic” alternatives to their clothing, so there’s the “regular” and “organic” versions! Also, Physician’s Formula has come out with the first 100% Organic Mascara and L’Occitane has an all-over body moisturizer to refresh your skin, the freshest (you mix it yourself) and there’s no preservatives added!

Nike Sportswear – Spring/Summer ’09

Nike recently invited me to their Nike South penthouse offices to check out their new 2009 Spring/Summer Nike Sportwear Collection! A lot of the inspiration this time around came from their ACG products…and they’ve introduced a whole lot of new items for women, so you don’t have to buy “small” men’s sizes anymore! The Nike Sportswear line is more for hanging out and lounging, looking cute and sporty, rather than for performance and working out, but all the same technology and careful design goes into all of Nike’s stuff! Trust me…it’s a serious science for them. There are so many great patterns, colors and styles…and when it comes to the kicks, they’ve got new twists (i.e. flywire and fabrics) on the classics. There’s the dunk, skinny dunk, Air Max, AF-1 and the one that brought back Jr. High memories…the Nike Cortez! 🙂

Marchesa Girls

I had the pleasure of interviewing the “Marchesa Girls” last week at Neiman Marcus Bal Harbour! These ladies create some of the most beautiful & amazing dresses and gowns and you’ve seen the Marchesa designs on all the red carpets! JLo, Halle Berry, Freida Pinto, etc… I wish I had enough occassions and events to wear every single one in the collection.

Side note…I wore my friend Tamae’s – Ishii NYC designer top – for the interview and got tons of compliments. See my previous post where I mentioned that Paula Abdul wore the same top for an episode of American Idol!

AKOO by TI

I attended the AKOO by TI fashion show Saturday night for Funkshion fashion week! It was a nice show and there was some nice stuff…check out my girl Melanie Tillbrook (below) workin’ the runway. After the AKOO show in the tent on the beach, I went to the Parish fashion show on a Yacht! I couldn’t find pictures from that show though…

Trends that keep Coming Back

Trends that keep coming back…I took a look at some of women’s most popular styles that don’t ever seem to go away >>> safe buys!! It’s the distressed denim, bold/dangling earrings and platform sandals…as well as animal prints, babydolls and skinny jeans! Thanks to Bloomie’s and Downtown Divas!

Ishii on Idol

Paula Abdul wore an Ishii NYC on American Idol last Wednesday! My good friend Tamae Ishii IS Ishii NYC, so I want to congratulate her on the accomplishment…Paula looked fabulous! The 100% Hammered Silk Blouse is from Ishii NYC’s Fall 2009 collection and is available in either gold or purple. If you want to get this look and/or see more of Tamae’s designs, please visit Ishii NYC online!

Travel Style

Since I’m such a “jet-setter,” it was only appropriate for me to do a segment on travel. I love luggage with 360 wheels, and I never buy bags in black, so I can easily spot my stuff. SHUBI was brought to my attention by a friend in NYC, and are super cute…you can find them at http://shubilove.com. If you want to shop, shubi’s are 15% off (til the end of January 2009) with promo code: DECODRIVE …and shout out to “Michael Antonio Footwear” for providing the fashionable kicks for the Shubi spot! The travel jewels are from Susan Hanover Designs…I actually found them, reading the SPIRIT Magazine on a Southwest flight! She also makes special bracelets as part of JOIN RED, to help fight AIDS in Africa!
