C + K Wedding

Yet another wedding…LOL I spent the past weekend back in the Bay Area for my good friend Carol’s wedding! I’ve known Carol since college and she even traveled with me to Australia years ago to visit my sister when she was studying abroad. Anyhow, she married her longtime boyfriend Ken in Gilroy and we went to a fabulous resort called Cordevalle for the reception…great setting and good food!

You may recall a few posts back when I detailed our Vegas adventure for her bachelorette party…well the fun continued at the wedding!

From the church to the reception…

I LUV these ladies…

…always posing for the camera…

BTW…this is my favorite photo from the wedding…taken by yours truly…

🙂 HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROSELLE!!! xoxo

GOBBLE GOBBLE

For my 2010 Thanksgiving Holiday I stayed in Miami and my friend Cat made the trek down from Jacksonville to spend it with me…and I whipped up a little somethin’ somethin’…nothing too fancy!

Then, I took Cat to the American Airlines Arena…

…where we watched the Miami HEAT take on the 76ers.

Then we had a Saturday “food adventure!” It started off with a ladies brunch for Dara’s (early) birthday at Balans in Brickell!!

We of course had to bring the bday girl cupcakes for the special occassion!

Now, I have to bust Cat out because she wanted to order TWO DOZEN for the 5 of us…I know Mischa’s cupcakes are YUMMY, but please, practice restraint!! lol

After brunch we gathered around the Christmas tree for a photo… notice we all have open-toed shoes to get in the “holiday” spirit! ONLY IN MIAMI!
(l-r) that’s Kimi, Rene, Dara, me and Cat

And somehow Me, Kimi and Cat kept the “eating party going because we met up with our friend Phil and stuffed ourselves a little more!

We headed back to Brickell and Sushi Siam, where it started with some Sake…

SUSHI…

and this deep-fried banana dessert with a “chocolate fence” … 🙂

Moral of the weekend..I am ever SO THANKFUL for great friends and good food!!

P.S. Cat and I ended the weekend with a Sunday brunch too before she drove back north..but we did not document that food!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAE MILLZ

Happy Birthday to Jae Millz! The Young Money artist is celebrating his born day today (9.11) and I wanted to send him my well wishes… It actually seems like it’s been his birthday forever (going on a month now) because he’s had several celebrations and been all about “VIRGO” season for weeks now! It’s about to be all about LIBRA!!!!! Ha… At any rate, I took him out to Prime 112 for dinner, as my gift to him…although we work together, we are still friends too…going way back. The first birthday I knew him was, well a LONG time ago, he was in SF doing promo and we got him a slice of cheescake from Cheescake Factory in Union Square! Ah, the memories. Anyhoo, we took this self-portrait post-meal and as you can see, I couldn’t get it centered!!

AND — if you want to hear some of his music, listen to a few of his more recent, favorite tracks below. You can also visit his official website http://forevermillz.com

Maker’s 46

Maker’s Mark launched its FIRST new product EVER, Maker’s 46 in South Florida last night!

_MG_4293

Maker’s Mark enjoyed a successful launch event at Fort Lauderdale’s Yolo Restaurant & Lounge in Fort Lauderdale on July 19, 2010. The bourbon brand brought its first-ever new product to the South Florida market with a tasting event attended by local tastemakers and members of the media. Those in attendance were treated to a variety of cocktails mixed with Maker’s 46, as well as exclusive Marker’s Mark glasses, dipped to mimic the Maker’s 46 red, hand-dipped bottles. The Maker’s Mark Brand Ambassador was also on hand to provide event attendants with an education about this brand new, exciting bourbon.

Only 25,000 cases of Maker’s 46 will be shipped by the distillery this year, and South Florida is one of the lucky markets to receive part of the first batch.

I don’t really hang out in Fort Lauderdale all that often, but Yolo’s on Las Olas is a nice spot and the food was yummy!

_MG_4414

I even ran into a couple of the “400 Life” folks…

Just chatting it up…

Devito Restaurant – South Beach

This week’s throwback video is from June 2007…the Grand Opening of Devito in South Beach, Miami. I remember this day, I had a full day of story shoots, so I had went from one location, then home for a quick shower and back out for this event…my hair wasn’t done, hence the bun! AND — I was the ONLY reporter to get the *exclusive* one on one interview with Danny that day, so it was kinda of like a big deal!

Lovely Locks

So, I decided to do a “hair” blog because I got a hair cut, then my sister Alison did…and my other sister Adrienne just had a digital perm done. I’ve been hanging out in my old stomping grounds (Bay Area) for a couple days now…went down to San Jose yesterday and made a stop at Santana Row to get my ‘do done at W’s Salon with my longtime stylist William.

As you can see I’ve added some bangs..I just thought it’d be fun until they grow out…my hair pretty much grows like a weed, so why not? The one thing my sisters and I are blessed with is GOOD HAIR! We’ve all been complimented numerous times on our nice, thick manes…or asked if we have extensions or if it’s our own hair! ha

Yup..it’s all ours and there’s plenty to go around! Today we went to Japantown in San Francisco to visit Arty Salon where my…. sister Adrienne had just gotten a “digital perm”….

….and Alison aka Bologna was going in for a “downsizing!” 🙂

Alison has a super THICK head of hair and her texture has the MOST body…I was wondering how the stylist was going to make it without taking an “arm” break! lol I mean the shear amount of hair being taken off her head was so amazing..I had to take a photo! Weave anyone??

img00080-20100618-1544

Awww..but the finished product was oh so full of lovely locks!!

img00082-20100618-1613

It’s always good times with my sisters….

img00083-20100618-1613

And after all the mane’s were in check…we had crepes!

YUMMY!!

Big Apple Adventure

I recently returned home from a trip to New York. My good friend Grace met me there (coming from LA) and it was her FIRST time ever in NYC, so I had to share with her what I love about the city that never sleeps!

Our first day there, we were tired from our flights, but hit the streets immediately! After checking in at our hotel (Hudson Hotel), we met another good friend of mine, the ‘Sneaker Sensei’ for lunch at Pio Pio.. (it was Cinco de Mayo, that’s the closest we could find to Mexican in the area)…lol Then, we walked by the Empire State building and made the first of several trips to H&M. I also ran into my buddy Mike Hill from ESPN, caught up with him for a second, before we went back to our hotel, grabbed some Pinkberry and got ready to see the newest Cirque du Soleil show, Banana Shpeel at the Beacon Theatre. Well, the theatre was beautiful, but the show not so much, although we did enjoy the girl who could twirl things on her 4 limbs while standing on her head and the Russian male “pole dancer.” So, we cut that show short and met up with another friend, CJ of Deep Foundation.

He took us to Times Square, we ate at Junior’s and of course had the cheesecake!

021

Remember this is Grace’s first time to NYC, so she was in awe of pretty much everything she saw from the tall buildings to the lights, all the people, etc… BUT her favorite was having a heart attack every time we got into a taxi…thinking we were gonna crash!!

The next day I took Grace to see some of the shops on 5th Ave, but we eventually ended up at the CAVI NYC showroom with the homie Phil…that’s a regular stop for me, every time I go to NY.

That evening after a quick change we headed over to Harlem Lanes for the Celebrity Strikeout event.

ontheflipside

I did a little bit of work, while enjoying the event…I had to make sure VADO and Millz got some face time…

We briefly stopped by an after party, but NYC was kicking our butts and the shoes were expired….

Friday, Grace and I went downtown to check out the Statue of Liberty from Battery Park, we also went by Ground Zero and Wall St….but the highlight was going to see the one and only Anjelah Johnson who just happened to be headlining at Comix.

Some of my Miami friends were also in town (DJ Affect, Derick G and Mr. Bowtie South), so we had a nice group for the show…GOOD TIMES!

The next day we met up with Anjelah for some brunch and LOVED the corn “elote”…hehe

I think a common bond I have with most of my friends is that we all LOVE TO EAT! Here we are chowing down again at Philippe’s…me, Cipha, Anjelah, Veronica and Mitchell.

x2_14c144f

All in all, a very nice trip…although it did get extended by a couple days since my flight ended up getting canceled! ha
