West Coastin’

I just got back from a wonderful (extended) weekend back home in the Bay Area! I truly covered the whole Bay…drove on just about every freeway and crossed more than one bridge! From SF down the peninsula..San Jose to the East Bay…and even into Wine Country, it was a nice escape from the humidity and a reminder of the GREAT family and friends I am blessed with!!

From a Hennessy Artistry event in the 408 with my girls to celebrate Shonte’s birthday… Thanks to Tony (Kinetix) and Frankie Needles for making it a memorable night.

It was a Raiderette reunion with a few of my San Jose O.G.’s sprinkled in!

Then to a beautiful wedding at Ruby Hill for the new Mr. and Mrs. Caleca, with Cora as my date..it’s out second wedding together! lol These ladies are some of oldest and dearest friends…LOVE THEM!!!

I even enjoyed a nice Sunday afternoon picnic in Napa in Oakville at Diamond Oaks winery…and that was a first for me…I mean MY Bay Area doesn’t really include “Napa/Sonoma”…but it was fun and I will be back for wine tasting!!

We had perfect weather and ate lunched from atop a hill with a beautiful vista view. This trip I even squeezed in a lunch with the “Three Amigos” at Tres Agaves by the SF Giant’s Ballpark…

…followed by a dinner at Sino at Santana Row with my sister Ade and Brian Tong of CNET fame! Until the next Bay Area episode…

Fuerza Bruta

“Fuerza Bruta” is getting lots of notice in Miami. The best way to explain it is, it’s a SHOW…music, dance, imagination, real life, just very CREATIVE! It is from Argentina and has traveled the world… Last week I was lucky enough to be part of it, well sort of…I got an exclusive chance to learn the “mylar” portion of the show with cast members. It’s basically sliding and floating around in a shallow pool of water with a clear bottom so the audience looks up at you – they even put me in official “Fuerza Bruta” costume! 😀 Let me tell you…that was CRAZY!! It was very intimidating since I saw the show prior to my participation and didn’t know what to expect, but the ladies put me at ease and showed me how to flow and push my hips to glide along in the water! The funniest part was having to put my face in the water and open my eyes…I just kept thinking…I’m wearing contacts! haha Then all that falling and smashing against the mylar floor to make noise. I think I got a little whiplash with a headache, since I’m not used to falling on my face and it is pretty intense when it’s all new to you! All in all it was so much fun and I felt very privileged to be the only press person to experience it first hand…plus it is a great, FUN show..I highly recommend it! http://fuerzabruta.com

The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard

So, because Jeremy Priven is a friend of a friend…well actually he’s a friend of two friends, but anyway…I got a call from him yesterday to come check out his new movie “The Goods” for the Miami screening.  I got an email, then a call, followed by a text…I felt “kida sorat special.” 🙂 Funny movie…sort of makes selling cars look attractive! haha I thought about my own trips to the car dealership to shop for cars, and as a female, we’re always worried we’re gonna get ripped off! The characters in the film are fun to watch and the movie makes for a nice “ride” (pun intended) and the comedic cast includes Will Ferrell, plus a couple of our favorite characters from The Hangover as well!

Right after the screening ended Jeremy actually came out and did a Q&A session with the audience, and it was insightful for me to hear what “the people” want to ask, because usually I am the one asking the questions! Anyway, I did get to speak with him briefly as he walked out of the theater, but it was like a “gang bang” with all the fans and their cameras and phones rushing him – sacurrrrity!!! So, I didn’t bother to get OUR picture and sorry GG…I didn’t get to talk to him about WWE Raw either…next time!

Blok TV

I posted a couple weeks ago about being a special guest host for BlokTV out of NYC while they were visitng South Florida…well, here’s the video for my interviews at Ace Hood’s “Ruthless” album release signing at Best Buy in Pembroke Pines. Check out Ace Hood, Def Jam South’s DJ Khaled and WEDR’s Lorenzo “Ice Tea” Thomas!

SYTYCD

Last weekend I had a chance to relieve some stuff during a master dance workshop being taught by So You Think You Can Dance – season 4 finalist – Courtney Galino. It was anything but easy…there’s a lot of rust around these parts, but nonetheless it was fun and really I was there to do a story for Deco! I was sore about half this week…but I’m good now. Anyway, Courtney is also a former NY Knicks City dancer, so it’s always fun for me to meet other pro team dancers, and she’s so sweet and such an AMAZING dancer! And, it is so wonderful to see all these new opportunities for dancers opening up in the mainstream and getting the recognition that’s well-deserved!

Hard Rock’s Got Talent

dscf4335

This week I had the pleasure of judging a talent show featuring employees at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Fl at “Paradise Live”…I was the guest “celebrity” judge! At any rate, I had a great time…lots of singers and a comedian. They really went all out with costuming and props and what I learned is that the Hard Rock helps all the particpants out with whatever they need to make their act as best they can…costumes, props, music, etc…

dscf4328

I think I was the “simon” of the bunch went it came to scoring…lol But, I think after judging and hosting, even participating in numerous dance/cheer competitions, pageants, etc… I definitely have high standards…and I think my judgement is right on!

Anyway, the productionwas well-organized, they even had “Beetlejuice” as a co-host.

From here,  the winners of each of the regional Hard Rock’s will all come back in a couple weeks to compete for a grand prize..yes it’s CASH!!! Not bad, sort of makes me want to work at the Hard Rock, although I probaly wouldn’t be entering a talent show, but it is such a nice thing that they do for their employees.

Anyhow, I’ll be hosting the next competition..it’s probably better because deciding who wins the big bucks can be stressful! BTW..that’s me and Carlos – Hard Rock Sacurrrrrity!!

Happenstance Designs

My baby sister Alison aka bologna popped up on a blog in this “bridal” look…she’s SO CUTE!! It’s sort of weird to see my kid sister in this setting, but she’s helping out her friend Clarice who does these great wedding-themed creations as seen on her site Happenstance Designs! Congrats to bologna and Clarice…great work ladies!!
